It’s been years since I’ve played assault, but with AI tanks that shoot laser accurate, coupled with repair costs to spawn a vehicle, makes it a tough place to make silver lions.
What mode are you talking about?
In air RB, the sl economy is quite nice, in ground RB it’s better than it used to be, but it is truly awful in air sim.
I think the solution is to just not play assault. It’s been neglected quite heavily by gaijin.
I wish I could get payed to stir stuff up online.
Your last point, yes there are shills about. Don’t you think so ? I play assault sometimes because it gave me 50k SL before expenses, The Non Premium tanks also cost a Million Pretend Bucks plus gotta train the crew and grind modifications. This issue I am is also present in Ground Battles
Are you using any premium tanks? All premium vehicles give 2.0x SL’s, which stacks with the Premium Time SL bonuses too. ALSO, whenever you use an SL booster, use a premium vehicle. That 2.0x SL boost on premium vehicles DOUBLES SL boosters. A 500% SL booster becomes 1,000% SL booster etc etc.
Also and, premium vehicles have much lower repair costs. So just all around use premium vehicles if you are trying to grind more SL’s. Especially while you still have premium time left.
Have you turned off the auto-repair?
Turning off auto-repair is one of the worst ideas to do. If you play 1 match a month its effective.
It’s horrible lol 9.3 no premium, 5 kills 0 death + victory, 18k silver lions…
What is this 18k when the next vehicle in line has a price tag of 800k before crew training??
Works just fine for me when most of my lineups are with Rank 2 and 3 aircraft, rotating between the 5 or 6 nations and leave them totaled, come back next day or so and they are all repaired for free.
I gotta work 9 to 5 anyway so why not? Not everyone play War Thunder like it’s a job.
Not like I rely on that to make SL though, when I am short on those I’d hop into the F-4S and use a 300% booster before heading into Sim.
It would be interesting to compare modes for SL booster efficiency.
I have found a solution for me by which I can very reliably convert SL boosters at a rate of about 750 SL per % point. This is the average, which has very little deviation. How much do you get out of SL boosters on average?
Yeah arcade assault for air is even worse. It’s obvious that the devs didn’t bother updating this mode after the first jets were added to the game since the last BR range is 6.7 to 12.7. This means an Me 262 could end up needing to compete with F-16As, Viggens, MiG-29s etc. for bot kills…It’s beyond ludicrous.
Assault Arcade had never been the method to earn SL in War Thunder.
You call all of War Thunder’s critics “paid snail employees”.
And you blame Gaijin for your ignoring of the other game modes.
Gaijin wants you to play the game, not turn GE into SL.

Who even plays the assault modes to make SL?
The rewards there has always been bad
Even with active premium, you are getting around 30-40k sl per 35 minutes lol that IF we win the game.

Air assault is a training ground for beginners or for people who stat pad and need a module for that and such. There is no point to take jets there really.
The biggest issue I have with ground assault is the lack of good protection. When we fight amongst ourselves in Arcade or Realistic, we have the ability to use capable cover for protection. In assault we do not or to find cover we must expose ourselves to getting hit.
I don’t know if the devs really care about it, but it would be nice to have that cover.
Tank assault has always been BARELY playable but since last patch it is a downright broken exercise of masochism.
Extra niceties brought in last patch:
- Bot tanks on amphetamines that run faster than Sonic and capture the base by the third round.
- Bot tanks that shoot with laser accuracy on the move (always did) but now ignore your cover, shoot through buildings, trees, streets and obstacles from more than 1 Km away. Also, they ignore, or cheat-ignore your armor.
- Bot tanks that now predict when you peek and shoot, so you now hard difficulty has been turned into hell difficulty.
- Increased ticket bleed on player deaths.
- Increased bot tank and bot SPAA accuracy and damage against helicopters and planes. Wouldn’t care much for this if you have a heli with decent range missiles but then you realize there is Ardennes map with 5 km range SPAA hidden in trees that you can hardly target, or Mozdok map where there are two rounds of Kpz-70 with 20 mm cannons all of them shooting and obliterating you in a second, plus regular SPAA and planes. It is not nice to spawn at the heli pad and receive a rain of death that doesn’t even let you leave the ground.
Assault is a joke now.
It is a fantastic solution to SL shortage if you are prepared to play multiple BR’s and modes and nations.
If you only have 1 lineup that you ever play then yeah, not so good - your choice.
