It’s fixed! №99

Today, we’ll be going over the bug fixes and improvements that we’ve made to the game over the past week following the Firebirds update. Let’s take a look!

If you’ve found a bug that you’d like to report, you can do so on our community bug reporting platform.

Sharpness issues

After Firebirds released, quite a few players experienced an issue with image sharpness: altering sharpness in the PostFX Settings had no effect. We fixed this issue first, and then noticed some more reports that demonstrated how excessive sharpness made the game look like it was running at a lower resolution. To circumvent this, we’ve moved the sharpness settings from the main graphics menu and transferred it to the PostFX Settings menu instead; all sharpness related settings can now be found there.

Underworld

We received numerous reports from players who instead of spawning their tanks normally at the respawn point, instead found themselves spawning in the middle of the map falling through the world into the depths below. From here, they were able to fire through the ground at targets on the surface with impunity. We couldn’t let that slide — there will no longer be any underground shenanigans.

Excessive limitation

Some aircraft weapons can’t be used at extremely high speeds, they have a fixed Mach number drop limit. Due to a recent error, this limit started blocking other weapons and even countermeasures on bomb-carrying aircraft flying at high speeds. We quickly spied the naughty part of the code responsible for this and fixed the problem.

Low visibility

In Air game modes, enemy markers started to vanish at distances over 10 km. It affected both Arcade and Realistic battles in cases where an enemy was spotted by a teammate. Like the previous errors, we quickly fixed this one too.

That’s not all!

As always you’ll find the full list of improvements in our main changelog! Here’s a few more while we’re here: while in a tank, your engine volume no longer decreases after exiting sniper view, the game will no longer crash when aircraft debris hit trees, and projectiles no longer pass through allies.

Once again, many thanks for all your bug reports that you submitted using our special service.

now, it would be cool if the r2y2 gets lowered

The markers not showing up past 10km would’ve been a bug that should’ve been kept.
Best regards,
Phil

Strike aircraft like a-10, amx etc forward spawn when?

Seem to remember it was meant to happen when the BR changes happened a few months ago

I see this as something that shouldn’t have been fixed…

The default air controls conflicting with the advanced ones, makes actually flying with keyboard a problem.

I can’t believe that it’s almost a year and more that I can’t use throttle and brake on the runway, and that I can’t roll right, whilst throttle open…

Did you even get the notice about that bug because I feel it’s actually quite experience breaking for a fresh player to have your controls ‘lock’ you into flying straight.

and the Vampires, especially the FB5, weakest engine of them all, less thrust spaded than the others have stock, equivalent to the Meteor F Mk.3 IMO

Yes, vampire fb.5, it’s not easy flying…
Load bombs, or missiles and smaller bombs and play a tactical bomber, with a secondary fighter ability… If you misjudge the situation or make a mistake (getting dragged into a fight), the game is soon over…

ive spaded every british aircraft (bar the F-111C and GR.4)

Out of all of them the Vampire FB.5 was by far the worst to do so, its slow and hasn’t the engine to even get to speeds faster than most props before being forced to dodge attacks, it does turn well, but why does that matter when you have no energy?

This aircraft is in the correct line of the British Air Force.
It is a direct successor to the British Typhoon, Tempest and British Mustang, in this case the Mk.Ia, Mk.II versions…
So everything is ok, fighter-bombers…

The problem is gaming…
Most players play continuously near the ground and there, thanks to its cannons and undercarriage weapons, it is very powerful, even too much… So its problem is the battle rating. It is placed at the upper level, therefore it meets much more powerful machines in all parameters…
Its battle rating should be 7.0-7.3 according to other British machines, but in the case of an experienced player, its results on this br would be very very good… it would be a real game changer…

Can you un-do this fix. imo markers shouldnt appear until well within 10km. Would have been a decent buff for heavy bombers and BVR trucks

If they were going to do a change that important to ARB, there should at least be some community vote/poll to see opinions and different things that could be done.

It was a bad change at lower BRs, mainly because people don’t communicate in the slightest, and it led to stuff feeling very meh. It also showed the jankiness of the marker system even more.

And removing team spotting and making stuff more reliant on crew skills just makes the P2W aspect even worse.
