There is a significant issue with the spotting mechanic where enemy planes are only tagged after they have engaged and destroyed the player. Since the AESA update, even visually acquired targets fail to appear on the HUD/system. I would like to know if this is an intentional mechanic change or a known bug that is under investigation.
To be more specific: while aircraft can be detected via radar at certain distances in TWS (Track While Scan) mode, the probability of them being spotted seems to decrease as the altitude increases and the distance closes. Even when an enemy aircraft is as close as 2 km, it can remain completely invisible to the system.
Could someone who understands these mechanics guide me on this? Is this a known issue with the radar logic, or am I missing something?
all stuff like this tells me is that gaijin truly has no clue how to model radar. even with the most advanced AESA radars we have in the real world, targets are still invisible to radar even in their ideal conditions to be detected
First of all: The spotting mechanic (dots and markers) of ARB has nothing to do with your radar.
The radar scans only the area in between the two stripes see-saw horizontal and vertical. Newer radars following the target, and if they loose it, the radar stays there, and you have to reset (keybind is “reset radar/irst to boresight”) it’s sight. So if your radar follows a target below you, sure, it can’t see above.
If your mate get attacked from behind and he didn’t looked back, enemy stays unspotted, for sure.
Radar is bugged over years in a way it shows non-existent targets sometimes.
You mean the HUD Radar? The circle in the top right corner? Never happened to me.
If you mean plane’s radar itself, check if your radar scans in the same direction. Also the radar needs some time.
No way to deal with it, it’s just another poor side of the game. This is why I would only play aircraft with the best radar in the BR bracket and learn how to use it.
