Ise vs Fuso

I’m about to unlock, spade and crew-up one of them to accompany my Kirishima - anyone got a preference? I’d like to focus on one over the other as I don’t really need three Japanese BBs. Can’t decide which.

Easy: Go for Ise and then Amagi.

Fuso in-match sits weirdly high in the water, making it easy to detonate the magazines (this was reported, but apparently it’s not a bug… though a second report also exists, still open). While it makes sense to research it, as the next japanese top-tier BB will likely be added after Fuso - she’s simply not competitive in the way Ise is (and even less so than Amagi).

We only have Tosa-class as designed, modernized Nagato, and Yamato-class left. A minimum of three.

Since the Ise-class are both in the same line, I think Nagato will also be after Mutsu. That would leave Tosa/Kaga likely after Fuso.

Yamato is unlikely to come so soon (within 2 patches), though long-term leaks indicate Pr.23 Soyuz is being worked on, and DMM started researching her a few years ago.

Short term: Get Ise, then Amagi.
Long term: Grind the two other lines.
Super long term: Get all three lines.

The overall armor model of FUSO is better made and theoretically has better survivability, but as Jareel pointed out, its position in the water is problematic, resulting in poor actual survivability. However, there are problems with the armor production of ISE too, with a large number of thicknesses that do not conform to reality. For example, the thickness of the transverse shrouds of various ammunition depots is incorrect, and some are even inferior to cruisers. At the same time, there are problems with the rear armor of the dome below the main turret of the bow, which makes it easy for it to explode. Overall, all of them are not very user-friendly ships. The current situation is that FUSO has not had any bug reports approved, while ISE’s bug report has been approved for nearly a year and there have been no changes yet. If you have to choose between two, I suggest FUSO, because at least it’s not that easy to explode.

IJN ISE lack vertical armor below dome armor // Gaijin.net // Issues
IJN Ise lack front armor of rear ammunition depot // Gaijin.net // Issues
IJN ise ammunition magazine location error // Gaijin.net // Issues
These are the three reports I submitted, which were approved a long time ago, but there have been no fixes so far.

Appreciate the feedback, gents. Guess I’m gonna focus on the Ise - other than some extra AA, which I don’t see much use for, and that awesomely ridiculously huge skyscraper of a pagoda, Ise seems the stronger vessel re: speed and maneuverability, turret placement, secondaries, hydroplane and survivability (by default.)

Admittedly a “me problem,” but I can’t bring myself to play any of what I consider the “phony” vehicles -Amagi, Kronstadt, Ersatz Yorck, etc. Too reality-breaking. I see those ships floating around and I feel like I might as well be playing this:

Also not too fond of using unfinished ships, but better that than purely blueprint imo

Japan also has decent IRL ships left anyways.
