IS6 7.7 return back to 7.3 or swap for T29

Since you looked at my stats, I would have thought you’d maybe have a few braincells to rub and realize it’s clear that I’m grinding the tree with the premium 7.0 AVRE and using the rest as secondary spawns.

I can talk about how I think the vehicle performs. It doesn’t matter how badly I do. I can have an opinion on the vehicles I use. If you don’t like my opinion, that’s fine. Attacking me personally and acting like what I say doesn’t matter because I don’t have a positive k/d is just being an insufferable jerk.

You don’t rule the forums, you don’t rule Warthunder, you’re no more important than anyone else in the game. Just part of the toxicity of this community because you have a superiority complex. You have to TRY to shit on people on a video game. It isn’t that serious, some people play for enjoyment, or to spade vehicles, or to earn entire trees. You obviously play because being superior in Warthunder must be your life’s fulfillment. I’m sorry that Warthunder performance is the pinnacle of your life’s achievements.

Or you could be a ODL with the AVRE. Because none of that shows in stats. You have a bunch of games in the AVRE, and very few in anything else.

You are completely wrong.

Absolutely true. Missing a shot or hitting an enemy and not disabling their gun in the is-4m or is-6 at their tier is a death sentence. The armor is not reliable with all the heat-fs around and the penetration on the round is mediocre

Now it’s at 7.7, if anything there is no reason to use it if you have the T-10A, it has a better optical zoom, one-plane stab, two 50 cal, better turret armor, the only thing it lacks is the reverse speed, there is no way the IS-6 and T-10A should be in the same br bro. Both get pegged when uptier to 8.7 but I rather be in the T-10A when facing 8.7s at least I know I could always shoot equally fast.

In a downteir i’d rather be in the IS6 over the T10A. The T10 doesn’t have very good armor vs almost anything it sees. The M26, T26E1, T26E5, T34, T32 and long 88, french 100mm, and almost every other kinetic vehicle in the game are nearly incapable of penning the IS6 beyond about 100m. If you downteir the is6, this is what it stomps. Again, i’d rather have a weak IS6 over a stomping IS6.

The T-10A will stomps even harder vs 6.7s, at least it doesn’t have to wait for the gun to settle down like the IS-6, you can’t pen the turret cheek of T-10A with the T34’s 120mm AP or with the German long 88mm, but you can pen the IS-6 turret with the T34 or long 88 when it’s facing you, although the weakspot is credit card size lol. There is a lot of things players often overlooked when they judge the overall performance of a vehicle, the improved optical zoom of T-10A and IS-4M makes landing accurate shots easier and quicker, if you can do well with IS-6 in downtier, you will do even better with the T-10A given the fact that it has single plane stab and better zoom and reload 1 seconds quicker.

The same happend with Tiger 2, Pershing and others tanks. But let be honest IS-6 is fine in 7.7.
Soviet 7.7 is one of the my favourite line ups and IS-6 still a beast.

Pretty much all 7.7 suffers because of the type of enemies they potentially face in an uptier hence it is justified to improve their reload speed, until they get their reload time reduced the IS-6 will remain mediocre at best in its current br IMO, even the T29 is superior in many ways in term of reload, optic, secondary weapons, gun depression, gun stability, it already seems a little strange that they are .7 apart, the numbers just don’t make any sense. Now the IS-6 is close to having the Maus situation.

The entire 6.7 BR range is placeholder until Gaijin has undone the pileup they’ve created at 8.7-10.7 due to refusing to add 12.7 / 13.0 for Ground.

The IS-6 and the other soviet super heavies are at their proper BR, the T29 and most heavy tanks at that BR area weren’t increased alongside everything else during the last “decompression”.

All tanks suffer in uptiers. The IS-6 isn’t put upon since they’ve moved most wheeled / fast vehicles to 9.0, what is put upon is 7.7 US having to face T-55AMD-1 / T-55AMD who have composite armor making their ammunition worthless against them from the front.

The IS-6 is currently in a bad situation now, I would say it’s in a worse situation than the Conquerer and M103 during an uptier, it has no stab and no range finder on top of the shitty optical zoom and the gun seems to take ages to settle down during the transition from moving to a complete stop, the attributes spell disaster when it gets long-range maps like sands of sinai domination mode, I wouldn’t even want to take it out anywhere except for maps like cargo port, sun city or advance to the rhine etc. Might be an unpopular opinion, the Conquerer MK2 is the most uptier proof out of them all.

Neither of these features are common place at 7.7

The M103 is very good.

The Conqueror’s damage post pen is very bad.

Lots of War Thunder’s maps are short range.

Poor reload, bad mobility. Centurion 8.0 is much better, post pen is bad as well but at least it has reload rate.

To my eyes, the IS-6 has gone from the ultimate, absurdly capable destroyer of worlds to simply a niche heavy tank that’s somewhat limited in it’s application but still performs well in it’s role. Ultimately, it’s power is in it’s armor, and how little it gives up for that armor.

Armor wise, if you don’t have HEAT or APDS (which is quite a few tanks in the 6.7/7.7 BR bracket), you have to gamble on a tiny, inconsistent, volumetrically protected weakspot in the turret front. That’s all you’ve got to work with. This is bad on it’s own, but due to the IS-6’s excellent reactive mobility, it can easily swing the hull and turret around to throw off this already dodgy shot. As someone who plays with 200 ping, if an IS-6 doesn’t give me that shot by sitting perfectly still, I can’t get it.

The other half of it is the mobility. It’s not exceptional, but it’s solid for what it is, and that’s good enough. Unlike something like the IS-4M, which has better armor, it can easily manuever around the map. This means you get the oppertunity to put it into positions where the gun can work. It can even flank if you’re careful enough.

The gun isn’t amazing, and it seriously struggles with longer range shots, but that’s not it’s role. For close in brawling, the gun works great, and it even has the shortest reload of any 122mm heavy tank. 15 seconds aced is still rather long, but it’s far less crippling than the 20 seconds on the IS-3/4M. The penetration is unimpressive, but with good shots you’re going to be able to deal with just about anything, especially if you flanking, and the B round can overpressure.

If played primarily in downtiers (Russia 7.7 isn’t what it used to be, but the BMP-1 and even the T-54s are there for uptiers), and saved for close quarters brawling and flanking, it does it’s job just fine.

When shot to the side of the vehicle often produces very little damage like you overpen a light tank and take out only a few crews but miss the ammo rack, that one I agree, but it’s 120mm APDS will often have no issue center-mass OHKO all the T-54 variants and the early T-55A without the extra armor plate at ufp, I find them easier to kill frontally than from the side when using the Conquer, I still have very few matches in the M103 to tell if it’s better, so far it doesn’t fit my playstyle and we will see if one day I can figured out how to play it.

Yes which is due to the T-55 crew setup letting you hit 3 of them consistently with little effort if you can front pen. The issue is its reload. That’s why I personally prefer the 8.0 Centurion which fields the 105mm and the Vickers as they can do the exact same thing but with much better reload.

IS-6 is 15.8 seconds aced, Conqueror is 14.9 seconds, both are poor.

Well, when people already forgot the T10A, they will move all of hate onto IS6…
