Is WarThunder a moral company?

Players like to think they have a voice or a hand in the game they play, so it’s understandable to try and put your opinion out there in the hopes that someone will let that opinion sway the developers somehow. The problem is that individuals don’t make decisions in a company like Gaijin (in terms of size, shareholders, etc). Not only are you literally never going to be heard by enough people to have your opinion matter, but they already use sales and playtime metrics to determine how the players feel about the game. If they do something the community sees as ‘bad’ and the sales stay strong and there’s plenty of people playing the game, nothing will happen.

again, they have to earn money.
but i don’t see them greedy (gaijin) , on contrary i see that players are too demanding and to cheap. (some of them)

if you dont want to invest money you still have the posibility to earn premium vehicles and premium time by doing events and selling on markerplace for GJN. (so gaijing gave you this alternative, but you have to invest time)
even when free to play you can reach top tier.

yes yes and yes.

By the time you reach top tier of a tech tree you’ll just be burnt out and angry if you do it free to play. I’ve been playing since 2019 and I’ve only now reached tier 5 of the US ground tech tree. By the time I finish tier 7 I’ll will have spent more time just trying to earn enough silver lions just to buy anything on that tier than actually playing that tier.

The problem isn’t that Gaijin is being unethical, even if they are being unethical. The problem is that there is an epidemic of people with poor impulse control who can’t spend enough time thinking about what they’re doing before choosing to spend money/time on something. People who buy premium time, then a $70 tank, then grind for months to skip 90% of the game’s content to play top tier, then complain that they’re not having any fun when they get there aren’t victims. If anything they’re victims to themselves.

it’s the same thing as all the people who complain about CAS in this game. It takes maybe an hour of game time from a fresh, free-to-play account, to see how the game is going to play. If after 500 hours you stop an realize there’s too many plane and you’re not having fun, either you’re just mad from dying and want something to blame in the moment or you’ve got terrible impulse control that compels you to grind in a game you don’t even like playing.

you know that are squadron vehicles also?
as i mention before, are alot of events.

so you should try to be better at game and using these tips. even free to play is possible.

same here, i am waiting for news about the new SL crates.

This mindset is the same one that people use when victim blaming. I won’t even touch on most of it since it’s just silly. My entire point is that restricting the player from earning the SL and RP they earned from their effort in a match is just ridiculous and is just them saying “Well if you give us money, maybe we’ll actually pay you for your efforts.” It’s extremely petty.

you understand that if nobody plays the game will die right? the developers of the game, adds for gathering new players, servers, all that cost money.

That is an interesting way to look at it, it feels a bit entitled to me.

I might see the game as free, anyone can play and progress, but if one spends they can advance faster.

When did I say nobody should pay for stuff in the game? I said paying for premium to get premium tanks and planes is perfectly reasonable, but having to pay just to get the SL and RP you earned is not fair on the player. Why should they try any harder to win a round or get kills if they won’t earn most of the rewards anyways?

I could get 10 kills, 6 kill assists and 2 point captures and have most of the rewards from that cut in half, if not more. It makes me feel like I’m being yanked around and having a 100 dollar bill pulled away from me on a string.

you pay for netflix? look at warthunder premium account as that subbscription.
it cost even less.

Got to give them credit to actually say they used ChatGPT, even if it seems obvious.

I don’t know why it should be sad. English is not my mother language. So I prefer to doublecheck my draft using an AI in order to:

  • ensure that I ll be understood by everyone
  • to see if I ve done mistakes
  • learn new rules about English I could reuse later by myself
Imagine if you have to write in Bulgarian or in Korean, you would probably enjoy the help of an AI instead of spending 3 years of study just to write a text on a forum.

Secondly, when you want to obtain something advertised by a company, but you feel the need to spend even 1h a day for years to obtain it, it’s considered as an addiction. So, with such policy Gaijin forces people to get addicted to obtain what they want.

That being said, I like your point of view about the fact that you can just enjoy playing at one BR for months. You might be right honestly. But if you are right, isn’t that contradictory with:
“The game is not meant to be finished… this is why they always add new vehicles to the game for people to enjoy. There is no live service game that has an ending, just more grinding and new things to keep players invested into the game with more stuff for them to buy.”

That’s where I lost you. Do people need new stuff to be invested or do they need just to enjoy playing what they like ? It doesn’t seem to be clear in your argumentation. Could you enlight my understanding plz ?

PS: This time I didn’t use an AI to write.

no :D

Thank you, you exactly confirmed what I said :)

You started last year with premium account + 2 premium planes for let’s say 100$. You reached top tier in 4 nations. So, keeping your pace to complete the 6 other nations you gonna need another 2 years of grind (considering the new stuff that will be added with time) with a premium account and probably 4 other premium planes for another 200$.
Then, once that is done you ll have to spend another 3 years to do the same with the tanks and another 300$ invested.
Ohh and I forgot about the blue water marine, the coastal marine and the helicopters for another 3-4 years maybe ? And 400$ invested again.

Let’s say you just wanna play tanks and planes cause you don’t care about the rest the game offers you, it will still require 6 years and 600$ at your pace. If you wanna do it in only 3 years (which is still long) you gonna have to play twice as more. Do you think you ll still maintain a “moderate play” in such condition ?

Not sure if it relevant to he post but I had premium constant for 3 years.A couple of months ago I stopped premium.
I am amazed how generous Gaijin now are with daily logins etc now I don’t pay ,almost as if I am more valued as an nonpaying and potential customer than I was as a paying customer.

Like they stop giving a damn as soon as you are through the door.

I am getting literally bundles of SL and RP where as a paying player I was lucky to get 10% RP.
It’s an observation I can’t help but make it is so noticeable…unless they made great changes for everybody.

A healthy mindset no doubt, but don’t you think this goes against Gaijin’s own advertising which overwhelmingly feature modern vehicles?

The content that is used to attract new players will take many months of grinding, maybe up to to a year to reach depending on dedication, skill level, and willingness to spend.
