Is Top Tier Sim Finally Dead?

Ehh gaijin can simplify it, simplify as in give similar performance ecm pods or EADS to all nations, there are 3 main ecm mode which would matter for game, noise jamming, repeater jamming and drfm.

And how is ECM going to work in the game relative to what we have now? I’m not asking about specific modes or specs.

But right now you can notch any missile with 90 degrees turn and application of chaff at basically any distance. This is especially true for non-MICA missiles.

Let’s consider two ends of a spectrum.

First let’s just consider Gaijin implements ECM and it takes our current missiles and their defeat ability and makes it even easier. This takes missiles that are already too easy to defeat from a realism perspective and amplifies the issue.

On the other end of the spectrum let’s consider that ECM allows Gaijin to reduce notch angles to basically perfection in a vacuum, reduce the current effectiveness of chaff to basically the notch gate we have without chaff, and then uses ECM to open that notch gate back up to what we currently have. So we end up with another situation where new players have to master an entirely new mechanic to get back to the effectiveness we currently have today. Or they can play a flat map with multipathing. Or if they remove it then novice players get farmed for kills even faster and harder than they already do.

No one said it was lol

It’s the highest br I like to go bc it’s still fun.

One interesting change would be with EAD, they are essentially jammer smashed into the chaff catridge, they have a limited battery life, like 5 seconds or something, hence to effeciently fool a missile, you have to time these EAD dispensing correctly, if you do early the missile would just re lock you again, do too late it will proxy on you.

With this gaijin can make that you can carry only a limited amount of these, because they are expensive af irl, hence essentially punishing repeated bad usage of these EADs

Not only that but you would also have to go to side aspect to make them viable, not strictly notching.

Now for other jammers, if a missile gets jammed, it can go in HOJ, hence the targeted plane would have to maneouvre to get rid of the missile

For jammers there is noise jamming mode too, used by dedicated EW aircraft, but can also be used by other normal aircrafts too, which would deny the enemy fire control solution for any aircraft other than the jamming (emmiting) aircraft, this might be good while teaming up, but its addition to the game depends how powerfull gaijin makes it, like how many aircraft will get noise jammed by a single pod/main radar, the range, burn through range, coverage etc.

A limited amount of aircraft being effected would help create a healthier gameplay, a high number would just force even more cramped wvr meta

What i am not sure is that noise jamming effects x amounts of planes or any amounts of planes in x coverage

And once again we are getting back to core question though of whether or not ECM environment will make ARH missiles more or less reliable than the current environment? This is critical gameplay decision and it appears most rhetoric on the forums will focus on “realism good” side of things but then when you look at where the actual player numbers are and what people are choosing to do it appears that realism is not the panacea that forum posters make it out to be.

This last patch solved a lot of long standing issues for a lot of planes and yet it is probably one of the shortest lived patches in terms of top tier player count.

  1. Flankers finally received some kind of flight performance. The plane can turn now and not obliterate it’s speed. Thrust vectoring is now a pretty usable gimmick.

  2. Eurofighter received extra AMRAAM and received the best possible version of it’s radar. For months Eurofighter players have been extremely vocal about how poor the radar was. Now their radar is the best one in the game. This is coupled with an HMD that displays all radar contacts and all friendlies…so it’s total situational awareness is the best in sim and not by a small margin.

  3. Gripen-E flight model is basically the same as the Gripen-C and Gripen-A flight models in spite of the plane being significantly heavier than either. The same can be said for the F-18E.

  4. The Golden Eagle received extra AMRAAMs as well. The only thing it could potentially receive is EPAWs or possibly upgraded engines. It’s overall flight performance is not great compared to Eurocanards but it’s broadly comparable to the new heavier Flanker flight model in terms of turn performance.

  5. AESA radars are now the norm at the highest tiers.

The realism minded player might think that this narrowing of performance gaps would create a mode more centered around BVR combat and lead to terrain oriented maps being more popular. Instead most games are going to be Denmark or maybe Sinai. Most players still rely mainly on multipathing to counter missiles.

Or they rely on the new technique that has became more popular which is the king their plane into a flying iron dome system and using their MRAAMs to intercept other MRAMMs; the iron dome defense. Most people agree this is a pretty horrible mechanic but it’s something that is also representative of even more modern higher end missiles like IRIS-T.

Eagles didn’t have any engine upgrades (at least pertaining to more thrust) 🫣, that’s more of a Strike Eagle thing. Blame the 'Muricans for hyper focusing on the F-22 at the time.

(I’ll go back in hiding now don’t kill me kthxbai ilysm pookie)

I was banned for being too good bro.

I was banned for flying to smoothly it made the other pro players angry.

Simple don’t fly straight at the AMRAAM slinger.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen AMRAAMs just miss for no reason top down on F-2As hugging the deck.

Yes it did happen.

It appears WoVi squadron members + players adjacent to them filed a mass complaint.

Do you want to know the ironic thing?

Their squadron tried to do the exact same thing to me when I first switched over to sim.

image-300

Also they are not the only squadron that kept an enemies list. Other sim squadrons have had their own lists in the past.

image-2

The only top-tier focused sim squadron at the time had their own bot that they would use to claim kills on certain players.

The whole initial reason for WoVi existing was to gather up all the best sim players in sim and have them all play together on one side and dominate matches.

This is direct post from their squadron leader (same guy in second quoted post).

And this post is in response to this post from a different sim player in a sim discord in relation to pub-stomping.

Also welcome to monetized pub stomping contests with specific purpose of getting noobs to rage quit.

So in many experiences players eyes, the game mode exists for squadrons do good players to farm zombers / newbs / novice players. However if other good players target them and their little clicks…then that should be banned.

It makes me laugh so much. These guys have no life, it’s pathetic

IMO people that complain about bol chaff makes no sense, they work essentially the same as normal chaff. You can still 3 chaff any arh missile using bol or large calibre chaff.
(Unless it’s a mica I just spam that shiiii cause you gotta chaff a lot more often for those)

I can understand complaining about bol flares as they’re actually quite a bit worse than large calibre flares for gatewidth irccm missiles, though for suspension track irccm missiles they’re essentially the same minus the burn time

I’d rather have that as otherwise it gives fox 1 planes almost no counter play to fox 3 planes.
Also killing multipath will make early pd radar sarh planes super OP

Just expect that you where spotted first stay in the notch and wait for the merge.

That is a perfectly viable option. Early ARH slingers don’t really get boat loads of missiles anyways.

Had no idea there was a whole iceberg here lol. This is rather goofy. Just a bunch of good players trying to show their egos.

I suppose this is very different to just the average dude stepping into a match with a bluefor plane however.

Also to comment on this, your first reaction when getting illuminated by radar and CW should not be to fly straight towards it while getting low.

You should die doing that.

You can always notch, as people get used to this they won’t even bother firing as the missile will just miss.

The average blue side jet player is a newb and if you look at where more experienced players are concentrated these days at top tier., it’s on red side. When F-16C / F-15C was dominant it was reversed with only relatively small contingent of experienced players banding together.

This is why blue side sentiment around two years ago. Introduction of Su-30SM was a large turning point that eventually flipped player count disparity.

Yeah there are people like simply sinful and all.
Whole friend groups of them. Very good 100%.

But why would a group of newbs want to fight them it’s a slaughter.

Again the highest I really go is 13.0 and my kd is like 1/1 on average or so but I don’t shoot bots. I’d say I’m just average don’t expect average players to go dump SL in too tier sim so you can murder us all lol.

This is the de-facto norm at top tier now. This is screenshot of same 3 person squad that with one of the guys who complained about being targeted because someone in my discord pinged me to fight them on Vietnam map.

There is mostly no competition amongst experienced players in top tier sim. If there are three lobbies open and two different squads of players looking to play the game…they will either end up pub stomping in different lobbies or end up pub stomping in the same lobby.

Me and Sin ran an experiment with Rafale and making sure to play in different lobbies than the other experienced sim squad that was running Su-30SM. Often times we could watch the scoreboard and see a guy quit one lobby and join another just to avoid good player spamming the best plane in the game at the time. It took about 4 people playing in 2-3 different lobbies to basically kill Sim mode on a Saturday night.

Sure, I can do that, the notching . Because I have 1000 hours in the game mode.
But how about new players?
It takes 10s if not hundreds of hours to get into the rhythm of notching and become sufficiently good at it.
New players need an easy way to defeat missiles, otherwise there’s no incentive for them to play the game.
Why else is iron dome meta super prevalent at top tier?
It’s a simple, easy way for new players to stay alive. I don’t like it, but it makes sense.
And I’d rather have players at least play the game mode than to just abandon it all together.
It’s why you might as well play arb these days, or just other games in general, it’s super dead anyways

while i played the bison in sim, i can notch quite literally any missile other than fakour, oh god its acceleration is so mental it will hit you before you even fully turn for the notch

i stopped playing bison in sim ever since the hornets came, they seem illegal for 12.3
