the difference would still be useless as there are no tangible differences even when you try to use the buffed 7M comparisons…are you serious? the reason the 7M is better on the jets is because its ON THOSE JETS. The EXACT SAME BUFFS would be applied to the 7F
Different launch platforms and different radars.
On the same plane the stats are the exact same… meaning yes it is a useless mod.
Well correct me if im wrong but only f18 has aim7f and aim7m so its something new and i need a proof cuz in the files there isnt a better version of aim7f on the f16/f15 that is the same as aim7m
U telling me that on the f18 aim7f and aim7m have the exact same stats?
So why rly there is 2 diffrent mods to the f18? Thats stupid
Yes, indeed it is stupid. I mean, they could be using the “wrong” missile column for the aim7F in the F-18A. If that is the case it would mean a slight upgrade yes, but probably not.
That’s exactly my issue—if the AIM-7F and AIM-7M are identical in the game, then why do we have to research the same missile twice? I think GAIJIN should either keep only the AIM-7M or replace it with the AIM-7P.
Or make them diffrent like irl
The only difference is (obviously) the name, and a 5° larger total gimbal on the aim-7M, nothing that you will notice in the game.
difference in real life is that 7M has inverse monopulse seeker (M is for monopulse). this makes it more resistant to jamming/ground clutter, hopefully gaijin can implement this.
I think the issue is that if you look at the transmitter power, side lobe sensitivity, lock range etc some of the Ms look better, the issue is that’s not the missile, that’s the transmitter ie the radar on the launching aircraft, if you take the F and M variants used but the same launch aircraft (ie same radar) the values are the same:
(From: Guided weaponry data (in-game values) Honorable mention for Jaek_ for making amazing videos on missile on YouTube If you want to reach enlightment, then you have to spade the Italian heli line, no talisman/ premium/ boosters - Google Spreadsheets )
It’s not that simple.
In reality AIM-7F has something like 300 meters (±1000ft) in ideal situation , like 600 meters against rough terrain multipath limit (i don’t know if that is the term so i name it somehow in order to communicate) . Doesn’t mean you wouldn’t hit crap, but you’ll have severely limited success.
AIM-7M has something like 30 meters. 7MH/P (Any P block can hit sea skimming , and no 7P block 1 isn’t the same with MH) have less…
And then you have angle limitations as well, for AIM-7s , let’s say 7F , you wouldn’t succeed a shot at 1/4 of the radar beam with angle on the ground. It didn’t matter your radar PD or not , the missile would go crazy.
7M had something like 25 degrees relative to your horizon (straight) (clutter limit) , then getting progressively harder because more clutter and the more you pull the more you lose kinematically as well, because the missiles autopilot undercorrects.
And wait till you go read the Soviet/Russian missiles’ limits…
In the game …all missiles are “normalized” , not really correct. Their differences lean more towards kinematics than electronics.
Imagine in the game’s meta where people hug the ground (SARH BRs) , they wouldn’t be able to even shoot those missiles in many occasions.
The nose down and tossing a SARH missile, is a no go in general.
Even the super missile R-27ER would be garbage according to the average player (it is not, everything has limitations so … it would have its own) , with it’s RL limitations…and it’s easier to jam it if you’d have ECM .
And in general it would make the game way more interesting , because you’d have to think a bit…
They can’t just implement features that they already solved by “normalizing” the missiles .
Everything MPs at 60 m so it’s not about ground clutter, it’s hard limit. ECMs don’t exist (And if they do probably would be the same for everything).
I am very well aware of this which is why i based my comparison on the basic model of the AIM-7M and AIM-7F. Some radars get additional transmitter power via these variables on a per plane basis, but i didn’t think that was worth getting into for a simple comparison.
