Is there a trick to using the Strelas on the Bernau?

It only sees props so it doesn’t want to lock on to any aircraft unless they’re within 1.5km. When they finally do lock on, they refuse to pull hard enough to actually hit. Is the Bernau’s Strela just a pointless gimmick or am I using them wrong?

It’s a very early IR MANPAD and prop planes are way too cold in game so theres not much you can do

What a waste of time. An unnecessary obstacle for the Hugin and Pfeil. The guns barely do any damage either

I do not have it unlocked, so can’t test drive it, does it get the same key/button to change between IR and Photo Contrast mode that the ground SPAA does?

I don’t play Naval but do check if it has those IR and Photocontrast options. If not, best to report it to Gaijin to add the missing feature the Strela originally has. Photocontrast option works best against Props or pre-flaring jets.

No, right now only the Type 91, 9M37M (Strela-10), and SAM-1C have photocontrast mode; the Bernau has the older and lighter 9M32M (Strela-2M), though I’m not sure if it had photocontrast IRL.

They are a bit of a gimmick, but are pretty decent at dealing with multi engined props. Outside of those I wouldn’t even bother trying to use them.

No, it doesn’t even let you turn off the seeker once you’ve turned it on lol

look at it this way, Hugin is just a worse Jaguar and the +12kph that Pfeil gets over those two is not worth the .3 BR increase
