Reserachable German tech tree only has Bf 109 G2/trop, default G2 are scattered around German, Italian, and Swedish premiums.
Is there a lore reason why Germany doesn’t get base G2?

Not really, but the g2 trop/g2 are 99.9% the same plane
I mean yes but it is still weird to think they had made trop version in tech tree but not the default one. It gets more weird because they DID add them to premiums as export/lease vehicles.
If I’m a gaijin employ and I have to make 109 G2 in game it’ll be obvious I would add THE G2, It’s crystal clear. Then maybe trop varient. But no. Add the trop, but never add original in tree. And oh yeah, add them as premiums. What kind of decision making is this?

Gaijin honestly has never cared about fleshing out trees unfortunately. Even though this would be an easy thing to do and you could folder the G/2 trop under it, gaijin would rather elect to just add more rank 8s.

Precisely. Just give a new camo to already existing fm and add it in the folder and boom. It will be 1 day work.
Besides it being a premium and not a german one, I’m pretty sure it will never comeback because gaijin decided Romanian vehicles goes to Italy.
According to lore Romanian pilot Alexandru stole it with one of Hs-129 B-2 and relocated to Italy)
Seriously speaking not every variant of each vehicle will be in every possible TT it seems, they are trying to make some only available in one or few nations, probably to make them a bit more unique gamewise, like M26A1, Bf-109G-2, M113A1 (TOW), G.91R/3, KF-41, T-34 (1943), P-66, MiG-17PF, Tor-M1, M3A3, MiG-19S, Hunter F.58, MiG-23BN and etc.
