Is There a Difference Between American T32 and T32E1?

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the American T32 and T32E1. Same armor, gun, ammo, engine, everything. No STAB on either tank. Just a cosmetic difference in the mantlet cover.

And yet, the T32E1 sits at 7.7 while the T32 is 7.3… Am I missing something here?

As far as i khow is t32e1 has better frontal armor than t32. No mg port, no hatch weakspot. But turret is same as t32. I forgot the front ufp value but i remember taking hits (not heat) that t32 cant.

Ah, I see the difference now. About 20mm effective difference (~205 to ~225), which IS where early HEATFS (leKPz for example) hits at 30 degrees.

But the front plate is at 50+ degrees for both of these, so the low tier HEATFS shouldn’t pen either of them at all with their pen dropping all the way to 127mm at 60 degrees.

I see the difference now, but I can’t say it’s worth going up to 7.7 for.

Thanks for the explanation, though. I was blind, apparently

Another thing that people overlook about the T32E1 is that the hull roof armour is improved to 66.6 mm. This makes it one of the few tanks that are almost impervious to HE shells, which is pretty useful around BRs where SPHs are common and a major threat to heavy tanks.

T32E1 has better frontal armor, albeit it doesn’t really matter outside of full downtier.

It’s the same situation as with IS-4M, it’s a tank with armor so strong against old gen rounds that it physically can’t be placed at the BR where it would mainly face them.

Due to that it ends up severly overtiered to the point where not only it’s armor doesn’t work, but gun and mobility also can’t keep up and the whole thing turns out horrible.

Only thing that can save this type of vehicle is proper decompression.

Sometimes it helps, like when my T32E1 survived a SturmTigers rocket:

This is just nonsense tbh, but i happened to non pen people with sturmtiger a few times as well.

Doesn’t change the fact that T32E1 is kinda crap tho

Oh, so have I. I just needed any excuse to post a cool screenshot.

I don’t mind the E1. But it MUST be in a lineup as it really is a situational vehicle (like most heavies that are not Object279). T114 is typically what I spawn when the conditions are not right for the E1 (any game that is an uptier, lol).

T32E1 is T32 but in hull down position

Yes, but no. Realistically the T32E1 has no reason to be 7.7 the same way as T54s have no reason to be 8.0 (seriously, the Type69 exsts at the same br). Legacy holdovers from AGES ago.
