Is There a Difference Between American T32 and T32E1?

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the American T32 and T32E1. Same armor, gun, ammo, engine, everything. No STAB on either tank. Just a cosmetic difference in the mantlet cover.

And yet, the T32E1 sits at 7.7 while the T32 is 7.3… Am I missing something here?

As far as i khow is t32e1 has better frontal armor than t32. No mg port, no hatch weakspot. But turret is same as t32. I forgot the front ufp value but i remember taking hits (not heat) that t32 cant.

Ah, I see the difference now. About 20mm effective difference (~205 to ~225), which IS where early HEATFS (leKPz for example) hits at 30 degrees.

But the front plate is at 50+ degrees for both of these, so the low tier HEATFS shouldn’t pen either of them at all with their pen dropping all the way to 127mm at 60 degrees.

I see the difference now, but I can’t say it’s worth going up to 7.7 for.

Thanks for the explanation, though. I was blind, apparently

Another thing that people overlook about the T32E1 is that the hull roof armour is improved to 66.6 mm. This makes it one of the few tanks that are almost impervious to HE shells, which is pretty useful around BRs where SPHs are common and a major threat to heavy tanks.
