Is the number of players insignificant?

The lower tiers are completely neglected. I’m trying to level up some low-tier planes from 1.7 to 4.0, but it seems impossible to find an arcade or realistic match with a wait time of less than 5 minutes.

Do you really think there are 200,000 players playing at the top tier? Even though in every match you see at least 6 players from the previous match?

I doubt that players are hiding in naval mode, since all the matches are full of bots.

Ground matches are just like the top tier of air combat: the same people in different matches.

I truly believe that 200,000 concurrent players is a HUGE number for ALL the game modes this game has to offer, including different levels and BRs!

It’s as if there are fewer than 1,000 concurrent players in this game; honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were something wrong with that number.

Game modes available in WarThunder:

Realistic Ground Battles
Arcade Ground Battles

Realistic Air Battles
Arcade Air Battles

Realistic Naval Battles
Arcade Naval Battles

PvE Helicopter Battles
PvE Arcade Air Battles
PvE Arcade Ground Battles

Simulation Mode

Custom Battles

World War Mode?!?!?

It’s obvious that there’s a huge variety of BRs, but because of Battle Rating compression, this is broken down in the simplest way possible: Low Tier, Mid Tier, and Top Tier.

I’d like you—whoever is reading this—to give me an answer. Obviously, it doesn’t have to agree with what I said; you’re free to have your own opinion—but please be respectful and don’t give ridiculous answers.

When you’re queuing up you can see the number of players that are in the que for each rank and nation for the mode you are in queue for by clicking the server region at the top of the queue window (in the below example it’s the “US”):

You will then get information that looks like this:

~32 players per match, in your screenshot there are already 4680 matches ongoing. That is 32 x 4680 = 149760 players already in a match (though that number is probably lower since players leave matches early). Then there are many players that idle in the hangar or are looking at protection analysis, replays, writing in the global chat, etc. Then of course some of those remaining will be in a queue for one of the many many modes the game has.

Statshark for last month logs 1 mil games for MKK alone.

The first 5 most played mustangs make up what, 600k games? So yea, id say most people are playing jets.

thanks!

For the most part, Tier 1 and 2 vehicles are excluded from all the tasks, battle pass, events, etc
There are some exceptions to this, but the majority require rank 3+
So that would also factor in to lower player numbers at those tiers

Its best to have your two closest servers selected for matchmaking until 3.0 as nobody wants to play rank 1
