Is the game's grind unnecessarily long and expensive?

Does anyone agree that the grind in WarThunder is massive? I know you need to be forced to spend money to progress - but many will come here and say that the game is free and we need to support Gaijin.

I think if Gaijin starts adding more vehicles, the game will become crowded, and after the infantry arrives, it’s going to be disgusting. It takes months to get your favorite vehicle: which is obviously something from the Top Tier - I used to love the Shermans, but after playing with these so much, I’m already angry about it seeing this again.

When you first enter WarThunder, the easy-to-obtain vehicles (the old vehicles, from World War II or earlier) are rarely the focus of your attention.

Seriously, your eyes light up when you see the pinnacle of military engineering, jet engines, fast planes, bombs and missiles guided by invisible waves, whether in the sky or on the ground with modern tanks and digital camouflage… That’s why Gaijin only put that in the WarThunder trailers.

But unfortunately, you’re stuck for 5 months grinding the slow vehicles, every time you want to get a different top-tier vehicle.

If grinding were easy, maybe that would encourage people to start over from the start to get things again, like in some Resident Evil games, or would I be exaggerating? I think if I got 100% of the game, I would definitely go back to the beginning to redo everything again if the grind was fun. I would obviously spend more money if the game was really enjoyable.

Gaijin doesn’t understand; the more money you spend, the more it will make you quit the game. The more you grind, the more time you waste. That’s why many are giving up.

I like it when everyone responds to my post, regardless of who you are - a millionaire YouTuber who spends tons of money daily on WarThunder and thinks the game is perfect since you already have everything you want - or just someone like me, who has to choose between food or a pixelated tank.

But if you’re someone who ignores how other people feel just because you’re at a higher level in the game, just because you’re at the top tier, just because you’ve spent years of your life on it, and you also want others to suffer the same fate? Leave and don’t reply to this post.

This is for people who can’t play 100% of their time, it’s for people who can’t spend money on a game and give up after 7 consecutive losses.

i disagree with this many people just work and buy stuff and YouTube players are different they work with mr snail \

i broke so many nails personally to get top tier and grind so many events to get free premium accounts i disagree :(

Only expensive if you make it. Sales and premiums greatly reduce that grind though.

It is a constant grind. And it has been incrementally, but exponentially increased over the years. Both in requirements to unlock vehicles, and inversely the reduction of player rewards to make the grind towards newer vehicles that much larger. I’ve been playing off-and-on since 2013, and some of the vehicles that were once top tier at the start of the jet age have doubled and in some cases tripled in RP and SL costs compared to their initial release, nor can you even hope to get nearly the earnings compared to stuff even three years ago. The lack of actual mode development or improvement also leads to players getting burned out, and it’s becoming such a problem that a subtle but growing percentage of active players are openly colluding to ease each other’s grind.

More could be done to boost player enjoyment, (such as changing up game modes for periods of time, easier events that more players can complete without needing to ‘lock-in’ for hours every day, bigger mixed battle maps, PvE events, etc) but many of the choice done in recent years have only been to the punishment of most while barely being effective against the ones actually being a problem.
