Is replacing ingame vehicles with a different model feasible?

Hello fellow snail slaves. I’d like to know what the WT community things about the concept of replacing a vehicle already ingame, with a different model of the same vehicle.

For example: F4D-1 Skyray > F4D-1 Skyray (BuNo 134763)

Why would something like this be done? There’s many vehicles that are slightly different to a vehicle ingame, that would be better than the ingame version, but would have issues realistically being added due to how similar it is to the one already ingame. The F4D-1 and F4D-1 with Aim-7Bs being a great example. The F4D-1 is already ingame, and whilst the F4D-1 with Aim-7Bs would be a far cooler vehicle, it would be difficult to add due to how similar it is to the already existing F4D-1.

I’d say instead of replacing, we just add the second one. One for the tt and one as a collector. Simple copy paste.

But it’s not like the snail hasn’t changed a vehicle’s name and equipment before. The Premium j35D being a good example.

Yeah. They added the skipper to the a6e for example

Well they outright deleted the old Swedish light tank premium and replaced it with the CV90105… I’m still pissed off about that, AND I STILL WANT MY REFUND OR MY OLD TANK BACK GAIJIN!!

I don’t like when old event vehicles get made irrelevant and pointless to own by them being copy pasted into the tech tree or as a premium (see BMD-4), it should instead be the other way around. Ideally, an event vehicle would be either something totally unique or a variant of an existing aircraft.

I’m all in for giving the Skyray some love, being my favorite USN fighter of all time. It could really use the external fuel tanks and the Sparrow II would be a cool thing to have although not very effective. Unique event vehicles should remain unique regardless. Probably makes snail some extra cash with people buying GJC for the event plane too.

A lot of event vehicles take away from TT options (AEC Mk II, XM8, etc).

doesn’t mean it’s acceptable.
