It really isn’t. Even if there’s a spall-catching layer in the composite to prevent larger pieces from further damaging the array, the final plate being penetrated would create a blast of spall that would still eviscerate crew, with no reduced effect because it’s still a 101mm thick plate being penetrated by a long rod APFSDS with nothing behind it to catch spall. Feel free to find a document that states otherwise.
I mean, you can literally see the welds in the Abram’s turret, so there’s no spall liner there. And, as explained above, a spall liner that comes before a fuckhueg plate isn’t going to accomplish much for the meat inside the can.
If you want something to help crew survivability, ask for the HISTORIC spall vests for the crew of an Abrams.

Maybe more detaild interior would be better more stuff to eat spall. The turret bustel is not moideld, wieres and so forth in all tanks. Not even the the seat´s.
If you actually think that a Spall Liner entirely negates spalling IRL, I have a Bridge to sell you.
The issue is more so that Gaijin have only modeled distinct Liners, and overstated their capabilities (and that to some degree the use of DU penetrators would negate them due to their inherent Pyrophoric characteristics) and as such they work a a binary choice of either generating spalling as normal, or not at all, with no in between which is obviously not how things actually occur.

I mean, DHA reduces the spall for an equivalent amount of HHA. This allows armour to have the greater protection of HHA without the sacrifice of greater fragmentation that comes with HHA. This doesn’t mean it will have a shrinking effect on the cone the same way a dedicated spall-curtain style liner would.
Honestly, I don’t think that the increased spall from HHA is even modelled in WT. For some reason. cough
I agree that spall liners are over-performing, reducing the cone too much, and that DU should cook the crew in hellfire, but war thunder doesn’t model such things.

its not the DU that is cookin the crew its the fier sppression system. There is reason the US us not going after international standart of fieresuppresant that safer for the crew. Burning unranium or even DU is his higly reactive with carbon dioxide and otehr fier suppresants… Its the fiere suppression system that makes teh tank burn and set the ammo in fier. Its Chemistry, very unplesant. Like whne anything DU related happens hazmat has to show up on M1 tanks and dont even try to exinguise it by any means.

Yeah, it actively decreases mobility, same for BUSK on the Bradly, that’s why tank crews actively disliked the additional armor.

Right now when I pen a spall liner, more often than not it stops most of the spall, but not all of it, which is fine.
But the Abrams doesn’t have spall liners around the crew compartment. It has them included in the armor package.
Yes there’s steel as a last layer inside, and yes that can induce more spalling, but on the whole, not nearly enough to warrant a huge problem.
You want more accuracy? Tell Gaijin to add flak vests for top tier Americans.
I always hope Gajin fix or buff Abrams. US Ground Top Tier always lose and no chance fight back when MM always put US vs Russia + Germany. Just give Abrams chance fight back when be shot. Not one shot and tank is disable or die. Most US Player aren’t Greedy and ask OP buff. They just ask fix Abrams and make it work like Leopard and T-Series.

And with that limitation in mind, it’s always been a competitive product throughout it’s history.
