ADATS is useless for both anti aircraft and anti tank purposes, terrible line of sight radar and is classified as a spaa with the same spawn point requirements as an MBT
M1128 is only useful in certain maps
HSTVL has the wrong sabot penetration
LAVAD is decent but the FIM missiles are lackluster and short ranged
XM975 is worse than both ADATS and LAVAD but higher BR’ed than the LAVAD
The whole point of the question was to bring attention to how bad everything else performs
Honestly this should be considered more, because I rarely play with sound on anymore (and when I played only AAB/ARB I never had sound on) because I can’t really use speakers where I live, a lot of the time it’s just too boring most of the time to not listen to something else, and the sound system for War Thunder isn’t the most accurate anyways.
sounds like necrons. did i tell you one time i was i na game with necrons, and he rage quit after someone killed him from has spawn sniping spot on the middle east map?
The Abrams is good enough for players who utilize every tool needed to take advantage of enemies’ weaknesses. It is not stellar. The turret ring bug and the hydraulic pump/reservoir bug and the manual handcrank back-up are all things that should be corrected.
Not merely “for hoots and giggles”. It is an accurate representation of the tank.
We allow players to utilize ammo in Russian and Soviet tanks that don’t even detonate 25 or 30 percent of the time when struck by APFSDS, I’m fairly sure we can eliminate the bugs in the Abrams
The Chally has been bugged and its been done to death by others just as passionate, and I stand by their reasoning. Again, Gaijin should want to do right by their modeling.
Incorrect, I’ve still had rounds all the way through the matches go black and not detonate.
I’d argue that’s incorrect. With the meta of ‘smaller maps = more fun’, the BVM gets way more fun than the Abrams. Just because you can get ‘more’ out of a vehicle when you have enough paid back-ups doesn’t mean it’s better or more fun, it just means you learn how to handle more foes while the rest of your team one death Andys and quits out of sheer frustration and disgust.
I can understand this critique.
That’s because it is. Even Type 90 B Fuji premium is god-mode if you have situational awareness and know how to maneuver through the map.
Correct, and it could be. But frankly that’s more spaghetti code they’d need to write and I don’t even know if Gaijin can go ahead and do it, or have the patience or desire to.
Interesting that you say this as we have the same issue with the tiger and panther with Germany at mid BR and we also have a the big red areas on the Win Rate chart.
Two nations that should be good, with historically good tanks failing miserably in the game due to famous and easy to hit weak spots. We seem to have two examples of “Useless legends” for the same reasons at two different BRs
Fix the turret ring bug for the M1 and the Barrel damage bug for the Tiger and make the two legends at least payable or better still ,enjoyable.
I already do have directional wavelength headphones, some pretty nice ones actually (since my hearing is sensitive and loud very-high frequencies give me headaches easily), and I’ve already changed the engine volumes for myself and enemies - it’s mainly that the sound system in War Thunder just isn’t accurate in terms of direction or just making sound in general. It’s frankly odd how inconsistent sounds are in this game, I’ve never had problems with determining the directions of sounds in any game besides War Thunder.
The turret ring is a modeling inaccuracy, the barrel breaking on the Tiger (and all tanks in the game) is correct, unless Tiger barrels are made out of vibranium or something.
One thing I’ve noticed is that they have it so your engine noise from the rear third person view makes it so engine noise is much louder from behind, which can confuse you when you’re in a tight formation with other friendlies.
By contrast, noise diminishes greatly to the front quadrant.
I literally have to swivel my view around to look backwards in order to hear slightly better to the front if I catch a noise.
The turret ring is a design flaw even irl, it was simply not made for a videogame which allows for perfect accuracy over range. “fixing” it will still be a weakspot and a most likely oneshot.
Gaijin acknowledged this bug of 51mm over 10 months ago. Fixing it will prevent smaller caliber autocannons from pawning the M1A1/M1A2 chassis frontally and unaliving the crew with regularity.
