I want to use the Type 60 ATM vehicle for maps where its strength can actually be utilized, but the gunner sight feels too low for firing missles behind cover (my launchers are still exposed). I’d like to use my binocular view for guiding the missle, but the problem is, my controls change to vehicle driving controls the moment I use my binocular, which is non-sensical considering even in 3rd person, I can guide the missle just fine. I prefer launching the missle in third person camera, but for further targets, I need to be precise and it’s no good if my gunner camera is too low.
Try the “commanders sight” and “commander fire control” key binds to see if those might work :)
Type 60 ATM has no commander sight unfortunately, I tried that.
Then i don’t think it’s possible sadly.
I find it sad, given that I like the idea behind how manually guided missles are supposed to be played, but I’ll make a suggestion regarding that, along with better missle control support (since they can’t be changed), hoping the dev team will give more focus on this matter one day.
I remember the Type 60 ATM actually has the gunner sight counted as those binoculars attached to the vehicle hull, but in commander view you cannot guide any MCLOS weapon at all.
Certain later SACLOS and LOSBR missiles can be guided in commander view (Object 775 and M3A3 for example) but no MCLOS missile carriers can.
That being said, the Type 60 has a trick up it’s sleeve that can help. Since the missile isn’t guided to the center of the crosshair, as long as you can physically see the target in the gunner sight you can guide the missile over there, even if it’s way below your reticle. If you’re a wizard in third person view, you can probably do even more cool stuff with MCLOS weapons. That’s just a trick I learned to use occasionally when I played the Type 60 ATM.
The gunner sight definitely is close to the binocular view, but it’s still lower and for example on Sinai, I had some spots where I 100% could see the whole target with binos, but I barely even saw them through gunner sight. And yes, the good thing about MCLOS missles is that you don’t need direct visuals to guide it on the target, but getting just enough view from your side to see the target while not exposing those huge launchers is quite hard with this vehicle. Maybe I just have to get more used to guiding the missle in third person view.
Unfortunately the Type 60 ATM’s launcher boxes are just nearly impossible to hide. Even at the max limit of your depression, including the couple of degrees extra from using the bottom of the gunner sights instead of the center still exposes them to fire.
