I really like the F-14, probably my favorite plane ever. I also really enjoy the missile bus bvr gameplay that a lot of rank 8 provides.
I’ve heard that the IRIAF variant is better than the tech tree F-14s because of the Fakours and I’ve thought about spending the $80-90 on it to get it. I would only be buying the plane to use it for fun, I have the US tree to rank 6 currently, I own the F-5C, and I have a year worth of premium, so it wouldn’t be for grinding or anything, just to have a good F-14.
So is it at least a little bit worth it potentially? Thank you for your thoughts.

Just get the F-14B. The fakour 90 spam is over and now its 13.0 I think the worse engines, RWR and IR missiles cancel out the fakour’s advantage. It was busted OP when it was 12.7 but yea now I’d say its pretty mid for a 13.0. Keep up the grind :)

its effectively a F-14A at 13.0 with faster phoenixes, everything about it is not that great but the missile kit is amazing

Not worth it. Its worse than the F-14B while being at the same BR. Even though the F-14B is better, the F-14B is bad at 13.0.

if i recall the AIM-54C has different variants, e.g. one that’s got a faster acceleration (around same speed as fakour i think(?) but shorter range) and one thats got a smokeless motor/low visible motor
this would be a nice upgrade to receive the other variants of the AIM-54C on the 14B, as well as 9M’s (as 13.0 pretty much everyone has it)

Not worth it.
It was cool, but crybabies complained so much that gaijin cave in and moved it up in BR.

at 12.7 it was pretty op with the fakour’s and sedjeels (i myself did that it was really funny but hellish for others). 13.0 it became sad cause F-14A early airframe at 13.0 with high chance to face 14.0s
