Is it an intended mechanic on stabilized guns or am I just unlucky?

It happens very often with stabilized guns that when you come to a stop the cannon elevates itself and it gets me killed.

Is it intended? I find it kinda irritating when I’m trying to land a shot I can’t because of that lol.

You may activated “stop gun elevation while breaking” it mean your gun won’t move till u stopped hitting the breaks. May thats it.

I purposedly removed it to prevent these situations like 2 weeks ago lol, it’s usefull on unstabilized vehicles but it’s a nightmare on stab ones.

Stop braking when you go for shots instead of simply letting go of throttle

Yeah I know, old habit to brake before shooting, but what annoys me the most is the bobble at the end, the vehicle was already stopped for a while when the gun went up.

The issue is that braking is sometimes necessary to get enough gun depression to take a shot.

Then don’t use said ridge while enemies are staring at you.

Stabilizer will only work in the limits of the elevation and depression angle. Peaking on a hill, and braking will rock the entire tank, and will cause the gun to be blocked by it’s depression limit. Try not peaking that aggressively over hill.

yeah I know but I had enough depression on that exact spot, I shot another guy from the same spot earlier, the gun was aimed it just bounced up for no reason.

That’s because you were breaking. When breaking, at first the tank will tilt forward, however when fully stopping, it will rock backwards. That means you might lose as much as 3-5º of depression, or even more (and I believe you only have 10 or so in this tank), so combined with the fact that you were on a hill, this explains the fact that your barrel went upwards

yes I know that, that tank has 7° of depression, but the slope at this place wasn’t steep enough to prevent my gun at a full stop to be low enough to shoot him because once the gun bopped I was able to put it back on the target, but that .5 second I lost was enough to get me killed.

I just don’t understand why it bounces on a fully stabilized platform, on an unstab one I understand that the gun moves with the hull but on a fully stabilized-platform I have the feeling that it shouldnt do that since it can stay leveled while traveling on uneven terrain.

Do you have your driver skill maxed? The game simulates low skill drivers by lagging when they go and stop and will stomp on the brakes and unsettle gun.

Either way, the “berm drill” advise of not touching the brakes is valid.

yes it’s one of the 1st things I level in crews along with targetting.

I just don’t understand why it bounces on a fully stabilized platform,

It’s because you are not listening, the gun is bouncing due to the tank rocking backwards and exceeded the limit of traverse.

The stabiliser can’t work if it’s hitting the bump stop so it rocks like an unstabilised gun until the tanks suspenion settles and the gun can ‘float’ within the traverse limits.

Here’s how I counter that:
Set up a gearbox neutral switch button ( I replaced the CC for reverse, so E key for me) and hit that then hit reverse. You have to do it quickly and get a little used to it but I believe it still counters that setting. Let me know if it works btw I haven’t had that setting on for a while

I know, but it wasn’t at it’s limit, that’s what I’m saying, anyways.

Ye, I had to edit my comment real fast. Just set up neutral.
If you do neutral then quickly press reverse it should also make your stopping distance a lot shorter.

I’ll have a look at that, IDK why my last reply was deleted lol.

It’s the suspension bottoming out that makes the gun bobble like that. You stop perfectly on the hill where the gun had just barely enough depression to level off at the target but when you hit the breaks it gets funky because the suspension bottoms your depression out.

That is what I expect is happening. I had that happen to me a lot so I started either driving all the way over or simply going around the hill. If you are driving on level ground and put on the brakes I don’t think it will happen, if it does then it’s a bug xD

Probably, still annoying though, that and when you climb up a hill and all of a sudden the gun is at full elevation when you go down even if your aim was pointed downwards to avoid barrel raising lol…É

Died so many times to that.
