sweden dosent operate IRIS-T SLM
and they just recently have decided to order them
I am aware that they dont operate them, i was more wondering if there was any chance of gaijin considering adding it before 2028
i doubt they will anytime soon specially with ground finally recieving new spaa’s after 5000 millenia it will pass another 5000 before anything relevant
Unfortunately, looks like Sweden got screwed this major update. IRIS-T SLS was what I was expecting to “test” IIR and so have some limitations, but then SLAMRAAM came with Aim-9X (and its ARH missiles for longer range) and IRIS-T SLM came with much longer range (in theory) IRIS-T.
I guess the best hope now is something like the Norweigan NOMAD for the next upgrade for the SPAA line

Maybe if they are added as a sub-tree it could be added for Sweden
Has gaijin ever added vehicles that arent yet in service? If so I hope sweden gets the SLM if not then it would be 2028 as the earliest

Its been the same thing related to the UK ever since rafale got added, since Su30 got added. Stuff should remain atleast somewhat unique, otherwise it will all just turn out like with the leopard, where france and italy got leopards despite them already having domestic unique tanks

is really disingenuous thing to say. Sweden still has the Ito that is still one of the best SPAAs ingame. What it struggles with tho is very maneuverable planes like eurofighter making the missiles be wonky. Rn the Elde can fit in this role where itll act as a system to deal with close range flying maneuverable planes.
Sweden didnt get screwed just because USA got the slamraam and germany got the SLM, sweden just got another SPAA to play with. This entire narrative that just because other systems might perform better that automatically makes SLS worse is bunch of bullshit
Youll still have Ito as a more than solid option for SPAA, youll now also have an FnF IR missile to help out where the Ito had some problems.
Against long range CAS you will have to bring out the gripen but to call sweden screwed this update is just dumb.
And as for the performance of SLS, we will see what gaijin will do as there are already some reports from for example Godvana on the incorrect maximum overload.

Challenger 3 TD was the Tech Demonstrator for the Challenger 3 from 2019? and its not slated to enter service for at least a few more years.
The requirement is for a fully functional prototype to have been built and ideally tested

The point was. Everyone needed Pantsir equivalents or ideally things better than the Pantsir. Neither the It0 or IRIS-T SLS do that.
Gripen C is an extremely weak aircraft to be pitting against something like a Typhoon, Rafale or Su-30SM and spawning CAP just isnt a viable solution all the time due to the SP costs being 10x greater than an SPAA.

Additionally sweden is very often together with russia and germany, so you know, kinda moot.
Yes it would have been nice if sweden got NASAMS for example, yes it would be nice if sweden got longer range SPAA. But calling them screwed is disingenuous. Ito might not be a pantsir equivalent (nothing is) but it is the best non russian SPAA ingame (for now).
Sweden has enough German tech. When they don’t operate it, they just don’t get it. Like its handled for all nations.
Would be as strange as: Why can’t Germany get these Strv122, the Iris-T SLS carriage or Gripens?
For once let Ger have something unique, which isn’t immeadetly distributed to Sweden, Italy, France and whatnot.

Germany exported these weapons, you should be prepared to see them in other TTs.
Though we could remove PW4s and Brimstones from the German Typhoon as those are uniquely British weapons.

SLM isnt in service with sweden, only a contract has been signed, its not there.
So its not exported anywhere.
did Gripen E field IRIS-Ts in real life? Yes it has, so its fine if it uses it.
Also this is quite literally apples and oranges, youre comparing a A2A missile that has been seen on a domestic swedish jet to a german anti air system that isnt even in service or fielded with the swedish army yet

Yeah… If Britain is missing something that can be found on an equivalent airframe from another nation (such as Napalm for the F-4J(UK) ) it is denied because Britain doesnt operate that weapon type.
If another nation operates the same aircraft as Britain, such as the German Typhoon. Then the German Typhoon can use British weapons that it has never stocked. Like the PW4 or Brimstone 1.
