Me and kedrigern did some tests, and it did not help against LDIRCM LMAO.
IRCM means flares, that’s it
IRCM = Infrared counter measure
this can be anything to defeat an IR missile lel
But ye there reasoning is bs
Like i said secondary source. Its still more than for every other figure so far?
Yeah we know that 10km is the in game terminal range. We were talking about irl
He was talking about IRL, there IRIS-T/SLM supposedly have 25km range.
And it does not change the fact that the IR guidence is terminal, no matter if the missile flied on IOG before or not, it is still terminal.
We don’t know IRL
like you send me a photo of black text on white background… i can also write that
IRIS-T already had pretty strong flare rejection, the only way to spoof it were with rockets. So… I’ve no idea what their goal was.
To nerf it… like that’s what the new thread is about and why we’re all here and this thread is popular again.
We do, kind of, we have a general number of 25km, that lacks any details about anything around it, but it is still a given number.
Does the DL guide the missile until terminal phase or also through it btw?
We do for the SLS if we believe SAAB.
well go ask Godvana where he got that from
SLS lacks DL. SLM it is all the way through.

And hopefully will be all the way through in game soon as well

So we did some tests.
In general the SLM is infact more resistant to getting spoofed during DL phase, when the plane was flying in a straight line and fired off zunis the DL did actually ignore the zunis and kept going for the plane.
Which is good.
We also had a thing happen where the SL locked onto the Zunis motors IR signature instead of the hornet a few times but thats more just seeker locking onto hot thing.
Where we saw that the DL just got completely spoofed is when firing Zunis while flying sideways, while the plane was still visible on the radar screen the * from the target numbers just completely disappeared and the missile flew to narnia
So in general, assuming that the people flying fire off a missile, the SL should fly towards the plane still, but if they are going to be evading while dropping off zunis/FFARs or similar the SLM is just gonna have a stroke and cease guiding.
IOG guidance with reduced IR range is as shit as expected, so ye
thats disgusting xD
I’m pretty sure they meant LDRICM… It did in fact not help…
Why would be, it is a modern missile designed to hit things, ofc it is going to be using all the tricks in the book.
How does the missile know what is fooled though?
Like L-DIRCCM fools the IR seeker and notching the DL
What does it follow in either one of these scenarios?
German engineering wizardry that costs 564.000€ a pop
