true forgot the sls doesn’t have DL… well then why are you even trying to compare the SLM to SLS terminal range in the first place? same question also to @WereCat888
Kinematic range of the air launched one. Ground launched one has worse kinematic performance, due to the fact it is launched vertically from the ground.
Because its the same missile. The SLM just has DL and a bigger booster
Ok but what is the terminal guidance range set to?
On the SLM or SLS?
Right now it’s set to 4km when it was previously set to 10km (SLM).
Gaijin says that this is because setting it to 4km give improved resistance to IRCM while ignoring the fact it’s much easier to evade now by terrain masking as the seeker will not turn on when DL is lost unless within those 4km.
Also to note that it was already very resistant to Flares so this is literally gaijin passing off a massive nerf as a buff.
SLS does not have terminal guidance
That is the question were trying to answer. Right now theres one secondary source stating that the nose cone of the SLM gets jettisoned as soon as the seeker is capable to detect the target with its own seeker. That is where the 25km figure comes from
That is not the point. You guys said changing the terminal range is unrealistic and compared it to the sls. which makes no sense
And why is it realistic, you tell us then…
The report which gaijin allegedly used to enact this change didn’t even contain a source to make the terminal range on the slm 4km, and gaijin themselves don’t provide a source instead saying its to improve IRCM effectiveness.
How should i know, i don’t have a source
Yes it does?
It has a terminal IR homing. Before that, if it is unable to aquire it’s target, it relies on a predesignated trajectory using IOG guidance.
If it is able to aquire the target instantly, it is in the terminal homing from the get go.
link?
Where did they say this?
Where did you get that from?

Changelog, no source provided
Here
Yea like… thats not a source xD
But ye if it does that and we have like a video of it shooting then it would make sense
