Yeah I have a feeling it always will be unfortunately. At least they gave us the IRIST. Had the Flarakrad for far too long.
it is great ingame but dogshit compared to IRL
I mean i have been killed at air field by it and I have seen a couple of people do that so, pretty strong, we might just need actual IIR for ammunition interception to work.
Another problem with IRIS-T SLM what I found after trying in many test, you need to make sure your radar keep tracking target for atleast 2 circle (after 2 or more track it will activated the missile IR and give guiding line between missile and target on radar), or atleast after missile done doin his weird lofting your radar need to track enemy again several time until the line appear (I dont know why but this method sometime not work when you lauch more than 1 missile for same target). If not got this “line” on radar, your missile have high probability to miss. Another issue I think why this missile can’t track to accurate target location because Gaejin still not implemented look-forward/look-back on radar and the missile really just goin to first position when you track target and never update the target position. My further kill so far was F-111F while he doin aggressive maneuver from 25 km. I launch 3 missiles with delay around 2s for each missile (2 of them just do 180° turn without get tracking line after miss and only track behind the target). The last missile got tracking line after it fly around 20 km if I remember correctly, and the missile already slow.
And for 2 other missile that miss it still flying and not disappear (it still flying doin big turn almost like circle even the target already down then self destruct).
And… I have no idea why Gaijin add tree if it just disappear from far away (so enemy plane can see any vehicle from far away) and make SPAA hiding behind tree become pointless in the game.
It’s very hit or miss. It’s got a lot of issues, but it’s the 2nd longest range AA in the game with FnF so do take that into consideration.
Just to list a few issues I noted while playing:
- Radar track switch to enemy’s missile if they happen to launch one while you’re tracking them
- Slow target update rate
- Weird missile loft profile, making it’s range shorter than what it should be (it’s alr shorter compared to IRL)
- Missile doesn’t pull the correct AoA
- Can’t kill RAH-66 or any of the helis that got LDIRCM
I can’t recommend grinding it right now due to those issues AND the proximity fuse bug. At least wait until devs get the proximity fuse sorted before getting it.
have they added a Stare-mode to the radar yet?
No, should it have it?
Lovely error 405
That line indicates the IR seeker is active and is tracking the target properly. If you lose lock before that happens then the missile will only guide via IOG. When the seeker turns on during terminal phase, if the guy you shot at isn’t where the missile thinks he should be then it won’t see him and it’ll miss.
dont see why not, it has electronic scan
Oh, so it was just the case of other do so this must too.
There is no official or unofficial sources stating it has a mode like that.
thats not what i’m saying.
i just do not have the piece on hand where i saw this.
You literally said
It is equivalent to saying my Volkswagen should go 250kph, as for example Rimac can do it. Don’t see why not, both have electric engine.
its my interpretation of the spec sheet that hensoldt provides.
“mechanical, 360° continuous rotation” “and electronic scan” 🤷♂️
seems like 2 seperate things to me
this would be a much much muuuuch smaller stretch than assuming that your car can go twice its max speed due to its type of engine.
This is continous 360 mechanical rotation AND electronic scan at the same time, in the form of look forward/back.
Stare mode is mostly added to radars with dedicated FC function. TRML is not one of them. It is a Surveillance radar.
Ok, that is indeed something. Still not reliable tho. But it is indeed a starting point.
Nice :)
Slm is working very very nice now specially in svs killed all the air alone in slm condition is lot better now
