Iris-t slm

It’s not consistent at all. I’ve seen missiles being guided almost all the way by IOG after losing radar lock shortly after launch. It doesn’t turn on the IR until like 2km away.

The only fact I know for sure is that if the target is under 8km from the launcher then the IR seeker will start tracking immediately.

did anyone already make bug report about binocular camera that keep started from front direction instead from camera (aim) direction? It keep happened when first time using bino and after switch vehicle.

I just saw something really weird. As you can see in the video, the 2nd missile that was launched pulled some insane AoA (86.9 degrees) a bit after the launch that it killed all its speed before started intercepting normally.

When launched from a plane a missile has significantly more range than a ground launched version

yea no sh… sherlock but it’s still not gonna make 30km unless you’re 10km up. The busted missile you described will not exist in this game unless it’s Russian.

So it is not worth pursuing this conversation with you any further

yes, people who does not understand the game should not participate in conversations about content, mechanics and balance

bait used to be belivable

glide range has left the chat.

why is the iris-t able to lock onto bombs? They have a negligible IR signature

Gaijin has spoken about this, they acknowledge the IRIS-T and other such missiles having IIR guidance HOWEVER, they haven’t made plans to add it to any missile. It’s intentional and will be modeled at some point likely when there is a counterbalance for this feature

IRIS-T has multiple ways to guide to the target. IRL the missile seeker only turns on at a terminal TRK phase so it’s technically not guiding to the bomb with IR it’s just using IOG + DL to calculate where it will intercept before searching with a seeker but idk if it’s tracking with IR in Warthunder that’s how it “should” work

I don’t even know at what range the IR seeker turns on at this point. Was testing in customs. There was a heli 4km away from me. I launched at him but it was in IOG+DL guidance. The seeker doesn’t turn on until the missile does a 180?!

Even if negligible, it should be able to lock on even at rather great distances. An IIR seeker doesn’t really lock onto a heat signature but onto an object distinguished in the Infrared Picture of the seeker. Especially with a cooled IR seeker a difference of 1 Kelvin to the sourroundings (heating by air friction) will be a more than good enough contrast to distinguish a target reliably and follow it through clutter.

Think of an IIR seeker more like an image recognition seeker just in the IR range of the spectrum, which literally means “Imaging Infrared Seeker”. It’s not going for a “heat source” exactly but for a distinguished heat signature which doesn’t have to be the hottest in its field of view.

Hold your horses until the best Leopard 2 is not Swedish anymore.

Their CaS up until this point…
Only thing halting it.

so after playing some more with the iris-t i will go back and use the flarakrad
in its current state the iris t is compleatly usless they prefer the ground more than the jets
the radar just dosent work 90% of the time and any thing under 15km range wil not get hit because gaijin nefed how much g this thing can pull
not to mention that this thing refuses to lock on the helicopters under 300m alt

at one side people are saying its the best and its amazing , and on the other side we got people saying its dogsht idk what to believe now. i dont have it as of now but the grind is long and painful.

I’ve seen more videos and people saying its dope. Flarakrad can’t do half of what the SLM does

It is definitely the best of the new SPAA and for anti aircraft the best in the game, munitions wise pantsir is much more consistent.
