Part of me believes they are hard capping these AAs because of how small the maps and simplistic the game is, if these missiles were allowed to have their full potential they would be quite powerful but then again, Gaijin are being hypocritical (again) and not sticking to their word. If the goal was to favor the balance for ground players, then why even bother limiting the capabilities of these new SAMs in the first place?
The game’s weaponry and technologies are advancing faster than the core game can adapt, and I feel like that’s the main reason why IRIS-T SLM and other AAs are being nerfed.
Thank you. I get the feeling a lot of people don’t realize that the speed limits are artificial limits, not just statcard values. The fact that missile performance isn’t fully determined by their drag and thrust is not well known.

Okay guys, I found out that the Pantsir missile is like the IRIS-T right now — no official information from sources, but Gaijin put it in based on what they say on the web. Now the question is: Gaijin, why don’t the other missiles get their speeds listed? Every source for the IRIS-T SLM claims it has a speed of Mach 3. Hmmm, very suspicious. No Russian official bios 💀
In any case, one had to be naive to believe that Gaijin was going to give you good spas to counter the KH38MT
the addition of the KH38MT is perfectly calculated and is not a coincidence, and they will surely ensure that it is not possible to counter it
the day when you can counter the KH38MT is when they introduced a new missile even more powerful for the Russians

I am still not sure if this is the case though. The artificial speed and range limits were put in place likely based on in-game tests for ground launch, meaning the speed and range limit will realistically never be able to get reached in the first place.
At least judging from MatAWG’s video, the 120C-5 does not even reach 780 m/s (by a hair though, but on a desert map no less), so the speed cap does not do anything actually. Though I would rather have these hard caps not be there, and just the statcard stat to show the numbers. But I doubt before, with the uncapped speed and range, it was going over 780 m/s or 25km anyway. Maybe if there’s a map that has the ground atltitude at several km high, so even lower air density, only then does this speed/range cap actually come into play.
Sadly the dev server is closed now, so I can’t really test for sure, unless you have?
Ill try to dust off my custom missile testing skills when the update goes live and actually ground launch the missiles themselves to compare.
That being said, other people might be able to run the tests (or have run them already).
@F-16D_Barak_II you’ve made ground vehicle customs for an estimate of the Spyder AIO in the past, any chance you’ve run a test comparing the air launched variants of the missiles to their new artificially limited ground counterparts yet? I don’t have any of my missile testing files left since I upgraded my PC and its been a while so itll probs take me a while to running these tests.
Lol. I have completely finished the German tree and have top tier USA. They are fun at other BR’s but top tier is unplayable. For the past month I have seriously restarted the Russian grind. I am up to 8.3 now and won’t be touching another tech tree.

ground launched variants just have essentially half the range of the air launched variants but can pull tighter directlty after launch just because they are slower

I remeber back when they added bunch of planes without ARHs and said that ARHs will come to most nations at the same time to keep the game balanced, and almost everyone was okay with that.
