Well, it would be cool if it did work like that, but since player to player datalink isn’t a thing yet, this wouldn’t work.
To be completely honest, it would have made more sense if they had just placed stationary radar units around the maps instead of having people try to hide their massive radar units on Gaijins amazing ground maps.
i think there should be an area around the ground map where only the AA units have access to, because just like IRL those long range AA systems arent directly on the front lines but a bit behind them
I hope the Spyder appears for Israel since it is really needed URGENTLY. The chaparral does not work for top tier.
nah it is clearly toataly viable to bring a 9.7 AA up to toptier /s
it would just be like the pantsir
Doubt it will be very playable, maps are way too small and the vehicle way too big, you’re going to get sniped across the map constantly with nowhere to hide, you get 1-2 paths outside of a spawn and you can’t go a meter of the path before running into invisible map limits.
Nowhere to hide, just have to hope you can find a spot where you won’t get sniped across the map which means this will be utterly useless depending on the map.
ADATS (UK) and OTOMATIC also need replacements, but I agree as it stands Israel is in the worst spot SPAA wise
It would be ideal to allow these vehicles to spawn outside the normal map boundaries. Perhaps at the close helicopter spawn and they can spread out from there.
Imagine trying to play this on advance to the Rhine.
Would be ideal of radar coverage was just default at top tier like it would realistically be instead of making the player responsible for their own radar coverage and micro manage multiple vehicles in a game that isn’t remotely made for it, even worse when you play Japan without a radar at top tier, peak realism to send a guy out there with binoculars in 2025.
Any nation would have 300-400km coverage detecting planes well before they become a threat, but instead we get to juggle a bunch of stupidly oversized vehicles with giant ‘kill me’ radars on top that are impossible to hide anywhere.
Yeah… That TRML-4D radar can detect up to 1500 targets at a range of up to 250 km with its AESA antenna. That would be multiple times the current map sizes so it’s literally unneeded to be so close to active combat (it’s even disadvised).
Official abilities of the TRML-4D according to Hensoldt:
If gaijin were concerned about them becoming effectively unkillable, they could make the radar unit spawn at the heli pad, but the launchers only inside the normal map boundaries.
I’m just concerned the small maps, large out of bound areas and fixed spawn points are going to make these things not fun to play.
Take hurgenwold. Where are you supposed to park up? North and south are open wide and the centre is the town. I fear the only viable thing is to stay in the spawn.
Same with Attica. It’s too small for it.
Which means having complete radar coverage would be a very realistic scenario for the tiny maps we have in the game, a lot more realistic than what we get in the game.
And even when someone parks their giant radar truck, no one else gets to benefit from it, so every single person needs their own radar trucks because imagine a nation actually sharing this information, I could be parked right next to one in a Type 81 and they couldn’t even point me in the right direction so I guess I’ll have to sit there and scout 1% of the air at the time.
Meanwhile, a jet 25km away will get informed of a tank location because a piece of shrapnel from an artillery shell managed to bounce of a piece of armor, because artillery shrapnel is better at sharing intel than modern AA systems.
Not like they need it since the entire enemy team will be in a 1x1km square as invisible barriers will limit them from straying off the intended linear path, and they will know exactly when they got on a capture zone due with giant markers in the sky because CAS gets every single bit of handholding you could possible imagine.
Meanwhile SPAA still cannot scout or mark a plane on the map, an entire team of AA has no means to actually communicate or work together beyond some generic callout which does nothing for anyone.
I mean, the radio callout does give other players a blip on their compass and a rough idea where the plane is, but we really should have proper plane scouting
Imagine trying to hide this
On this
This is why gaijin need to take feedback on their ideas before they go ahead on stuff like this.
U know what is not a gamble? To play GRB, spawn a Tank and fight CAS with it… u cant defeat CAS in that Gamemode unless u died before and spawn in SPAA or u decided to not help the team by spawning SPAA in the first place…
It shouldn’t be a rough idea when that player has a radar that knows a targets location, altitude, heading, speed and everything and we get a ‘’ yeah somewhere over there’’
Jup.
Also try to hide that afterwards, when the CAS already deleted your Tank and just waits for you to respawn in it xD
This type of long range loal spaa is so overkill for helicopters, the trajectory means you can’t duck behind terrain because it will be coming from above, and flares wont do anything, so the moment you pop on radar you will instantly be killed (on some maps it might be even able to immediately kill you if you spawn on the closer pad lol)
I mean… jea… fk that CAS… but will this really do a lot? I am not sure… the System is Big and sluggish, especially with the need to spawn the launcher first.
In the meantime the Plane already fired the Missle at you, that will Kill you even if u kill the Plane, making you survive only a few seconds.
Still better then not even having the chance to kill the CAS in the first place…
but the whole system is just dumb… especially with stuff like SEAD coming soon
Finally something to annihilate those annoying Spike and PARS spammers
