I have made a different report on the DIRCM on found on the mi-28nm, ka-52 and Z-10ME, yet all the reports about this issue are not being taken seriously. Its a real problem, the seeker of the iris-t is designed to withstand any kind of electronic jamming devices;
The max speed and maneuverability of the iris-t is also wrong in game; IRIS-T - Wikipedia.
The wikipedia article also states, that it has good resistance against modern DIRCM. When facing said DIRCM helicopter platforms, the datalink also doesnt seem to work, again the wikipedia article states, that Its seeker can receive cues from radar or datalink. The iris-t also has problems intercepting kh-38 or other kinds of agms eventhough the iris-t has a extremly good hit rate when it comes to small flying targets.
Edit: I have found one more sources about the electronic jamming;
at the bottom it states, that the iris-t is highly rejective against infrared and laser countermeasures.
I have yet to find a different source about the agility of the iris-t sl. Atleast another source also states, that the top speed of the missile is mach 3;
If I find more info or if anybody has more please respond to this thread.
Whatever is realistic or not, we need these vehicles to balance things with the new overpowered SPAAs around, and they should be left as they are, IRITS T mains are always first spawning it, often two or three players, making flying even scout drones impossible.
For the sake of balance between Ground and Air, we need vehicles capable of defeating this threats until they add Anti-Radiation missiles, and Radar based SPAAs and Air to Air fox 1 and fox 3 can still easily kill these helis, perfectly balanced
ah yes, DIRCM in war thunder can deflect a infinite amount of iris-ts while irl it can mostly defend against 2 or 3 depending on the version. Plus the iris-t isnt realistic, some people are also just tired of russian cas and helis, its annoying to get killed 5 times in a row by some guy in a su-30 and the second he dies he just goes into his su-34, thats really fun.
Sure, but I dont see the balance with russian cas? they can spawn in two jets each carrying like 8 kh-38, without spawncost reduction. That isnt balanced either no? Overpowered SPAAs? Dude the iris-ts locks itself 50% of the time or just makes loops around itself. The only op spaa that I have played against is the CS-SA5 havent been able to properly flare the missiles but thats on me.
Wikipedia and armyrecognition.com are not legitimate sources; they are not even secondary sources. The secondary source you have from Diehl Defence is a news report, not a technical description document. Furthermore, it is an archived webpage that doesn’t even exist anymore. “High rejection rate against infrared and laser countermeasures” is vague wording, and would not be accepted as evidence of any specific change.
You haven’t found any actual sources, and it’s impossible to support a bug report based on feelings and speculation. For the most OP SPAA in the game, no less.
Can you provide evidence that L370 Vitebsk provedes 100% protection against infinite amount of IR missiles ?
Because hight now LDIRCM is implemented very favourable way including 100% coverage (someone care to explain how the laser passes trough the hull when jamming missile coming from above ?).
I cannot, because it doesn’t. Gaijin released it incomplete, and incorrect to a degree, like they do with most vehicles/mechanics. Fortunately, IIRC devs confirmed they are working on limiting the number of missiles that LDIRCM can hit to the number of turrets. As to the interception angles, somebody should make a report on that if it indeed is wrong.
Yea I guess it will take about the same time as fix the Puma MUSS, oh wait…
(Puma was introduced 2022 and MUSS has been bug reported countless times)
Isn’t it interesting that those two fundamentally identical systems got so different treatment. Russian LDIRCM has all around coverage while MUSS is limited to 40° horizontally and 10° vertically despite both systems being mounted on a turret.
They carry 6 KH38, not 8, and a decent IRIS T (specially those first spawning it and hiding behind rocks that their radar can still pick up through terrain), can easily start shooting at 20km+, where the KH38 ideal launch distance is 15KM or less, and they will immedietly shoot 2 missiles at you and then intercept most if not all KH38.
Sure, around half of the IRIS T mains are still german mains, that spawn, put the two launchers side by side and the radar there besides them in the spawn, but a somewhat intelligent player spread around their launchers and hide the radar can essentially clean the entire sky of helis, bombs, and planes.
Now returning to the topic, IRIS T has IFF mode on the radar screen, that people can use to only appear in the screen ENEMY ordinance and air threats, it makes no sense to “lock itself”, and the missiles can chase people across the map and sometimes even lock people LANDED on airfield depending on the map.
