Yes but it will happen you should never actually dogfight in air rb, but when the rest of your team is ded and you need to 1v1 an f-5 itd be nice to have a chance
Though with IRIS-Ts, it wouldnt be an F-5, it would be a Typhoon or Rafale at the worst, or an F-16C or something at best.
Aim-9Li at the moment, to add a Tornado similar to the Tornado GR4 at 12.3 would be a more reasonable starting ask.

to claim you need IRIS-T to deal with F-5E in Tornado cant be logically countered. youre putting yourself in massively disadvantageous position.
the argument is to simply not get into such position. F-5E will never catch you, it can only beat you in dogfight.

Maybe… But I still dont think its the smart move at this time. Moving the ASSTA 1 (3) up would be a terrible decision. So Id instead suggest adding something new instead like:
would at least add other buffs like the Boz-101 ECs (recently added to the MLU Ret 8 in a slightly different form)
But even then, I think its better off going for 12.3 and Aim-9Li than 13.0+ with IRIS-Ts.
Im on the fence on the GR4 about whether Id want it to get ASRAAMs. (Unless I can get a second GR4, so the 12.3 one still exists)

No. But we need a separate vehicle with AIM-9L(I). Dunno why Gaijin decided that only Britian is allowed to have upgraded Tornadoes, beyond just standard British favouritism.

Yeah, but they have stated multiple times that other Tornados like the Italian ones that also operated AS-34s wont get them because they are an exclusive to the MFG for now (even though theyd be the easiest addition in the world with both the radar and loadout fully ready to go on the same airframe). Likewise Britian probably wont expect sea eagles anytime soon either.

That is annoying, if i had to guess its probably to keep the weapons test platform priemium from getting it so theres a reason for the mfg to exist

no one says you cant have fun; however you are making a claim and you need to be prepared to defend it. When there is little to no logic or evidence behind your claim, of course people will judge the claim based on how well you understand game and its balance. In this case, you dont understand it too well, so why should people agree with you that tornado needs IRIS-T to deal with dogfights, when anyone more experienced will simply advise you to not dogfight in tornado?
IRIS-T is the nuclear option for problems that actually affect every ground attacker in game right now.
All ground attackers. Doesnt matter if its a WW2 heavy bomber all the way up to some of the high BR options like the GR4, Mirage 2K RMV or JH-7A have the same issues, ARB is designed to be bad for ground attackers. In every single respect.
You could try ASB, they work quite well in that gamemode, but the issues affecting ARB have a chance of being resolved. I dont see any possibility of the ASSTA 1 getting IRIS-T

I thought it would be an interesting topic, and i figured the the a-10 was one of the first planes to get the AIM-9M and i figured the tornado assta is in a silimar situation, the f-5 seemed like a fair plane to bring up there are also mig-21s, and mig-23s, and f4’s that you cant always run away from you are a sitting duck even in 10.7 its a bit less preasure in full down tier and not every plane has to be competitive. But having some form of irccm (aim-9Li or IRIS-T) would actually let ypu consistantly* defend yourself while still flying a garbage can
And in a full up teir you see 29s, hornets, and Tomcats…

so why not suggest the 9M/9Li first and go for IRIS-T right off the bat?
you did not mention 9M/9Li in your original post in relation to A10 whatsoever.
also difference is, A-10 is much slower than tornado, thats why IRCCM missiles arent as big of an issue on it.
exactly. not every plane, such as ground pounder tornado, has to be competetive in A2A. While it is nice and dandy you want to defend yourself, do you realize Tornado getting IRIS-T at 11.7 or even 12.3 as you originally suggested would completly screw over the 10.7/11.3 planes? You would make entire BR range uncompetetive in order to “be able to defend yourself” in a tornado in a dogfight.
