The assta 3 had them in real life and it wouldnt be over-powered they put aim-9M’s on the a-10 because it has bad flight preformance why cant a Tornado @br 11.7 or even 12.3 if you bumped it up get the iris-T?

1- If you get IRIS-T on Tonka
You will get straight up to 14.0 I think.
It will make you suffer worse.
2- No IIR will be allowed until the USA has first.
Just like what they got the first ARH missile in years faster.
We might gonna awaits long for either ASRAAM or IRIS-T for air
Until AIM-9X in the aeroplane happens.

It would be akin to the Su-25BM situation when it release; an OP missile on a meh FM. The BR increase would kill it tho. I would wait until a new tornado variant like the SLE is added for the IRIS-T to be considered

I mean tbh i actively bring it to 14.0 anyhow it the same suffering, and i doubt it would go straight to 14.0. 13.0…maybe but atleast the gimmick would give people a reason to fly it…
Honestly im hoping for the ECR with SEAD capability but i dont think they are going to do any electronic warfare variants any time soon
IRIS-T would increase it’s BR to at least 13.0+. Probably more like 13.7/14.0 kinda range.
Bare in mind the tornado Gr4 is basically a tornado ASSTA1 with more CMs and Aim-9Ms and is 12.3.
No matter what, you are better off asking for a Tornado ASST3.1 or something to add a “late” tornado ids to the German tree to maintain the one current TT airframe at the lower BR, probably with Aim-9Li at this time for the same 12.3 ISH BR but could get IRIS-Ts in the future.
But what is needed is:
-
a BR drop down to 11.3 for the ASSTA1, GR1 and IDS(1995)
-
An overhaul of ARB for ground attackers
-
a decompression of the higher BRs
-
add missing equipment like CBUs (BL755 and MW1) and ARM (AGM-88)
-
continued buffs and addition of missing features for the Tornado (radar, ecm, combat thrust, finished FM, etc)

The GL variant of IRIS-T is already found on Elde 98, so we know how the missile would look like.
Now, explain to me how would it be fair for 10.7 or 11.3 planes to face IRIS-T.
When the IRIS-T comes into play, it will be given to the Eurofighters, so why would you want to use a bomber as a fighter, when you’ll have a fully capable fighter available? Those are self-defense missiles, not something you use to turn a bomber into a fighter. It will go to 14.0 - DOA.
I would argue for balancing giving the 2nd best plane in game a better kit would be brutal
Yes and no.
I play a lot of GR4 and due to the CQB nature of ARB, im often forced to use my Aim-9Ms in self defence, and where Aim-9Ls are a waste of weight and drag on the airframe, the 9Ms are an actual threat.
So the ability to use IRIS-T on the ASSTA3.1 or ASRAAM on the GR4 would enhance that even further. Though I do agree, with the current maps that would be extremely difficult at 13.0+ without some serious buffs and massive buffs to other aspects. Though wierdly, I have better success base bombing in 12.3-13.3 matches in the GR4 than I do in the GR1 in 10.7-11.7 matches
Typhoon needs HOBS. Its the only option (or ASRAAM for the Brits) , but it would come to all at the same time, so wouldnt be that bad with the right decompression
You will still get clapped by F-5Es because as is you dont get HMD and you’d still need to point the german oiltankers nose at the enemy to fire the IRIS-T

Im usually not the one to bring up stats when regards to air because im bad air player myself, but man. Just by stating that Tornado equiped with IRIS-T slm would get clapped by F-5E makes you sound like a bad player and what do you know
Id suggest you to not dogfight F-5E in tornado in the first place, before asking for IRIS-T.
Yeah… Though you never know, some day it might happen, and BL755s could be Napalm-esk for the Tornados

Whistles innocently about beating an F-20 in gunfight with the Gr4 :P
Though as a general rule of thumb, yes, dont dogfight with a Tornado

Yes but it will happen you should never actually dogfight in air rb, but when the rest of your team is ded and you need to 1v1 an f-5 itd be nice to have a chance
Though with IRIS-Ts, it wouldnt be an F-5, it would be a Typhoon or Rafale at the worst, or an F-16C or something at best.
Aim-9Li at the moment, to add a Tornado similar to the Tornado GR4 at 12.3 would be a more reasonable starting ask.
