So the leak list about sub-trees that was posted awhile ago said that USSR getting an Iran sub-tree was a high probability. This seemed most likely as a Ukrainian sub-tree would be very controversial due to current events (Even though it still makes the most sense as all ex-USSR nations belong in the USSR tech-tree)
But with the previous Iranian F-14A IRIA being added to the USA as an event, and now the The FV4030/3 Shir 2 being added to the British as an event. The likelihood of Irian being a USSR subtree seems less and less.
The whole point in sub-trees was to 1) add new types of vehicles to a tree that doesn’t have that type, 2) fill gaps in the tech-tree. But I dont see how Iran would do either of these at this point. If they keep adding all the non Soviet Iranian stuff to other tress all we will be left with is just nock-off Russian stuff. And its not like the Soviets had gaps in the tree, atlest stuff they couldnt fill with their own stuff.
I understand your sentiment, I do think that Iran should be in the soviet tree but using Shir 2 isn’t very solid argument as no shir ever made it to Iran before the 1979 revolution and we reworked into the Khalid for Jordan and Challenger for Britain and Oman.
i mean Iran woudnt even do anything for Russia to begin with other than give them some US jets and i doubt the devs want US jets in the Russian tree or Russian jets in the US tree thats prob why they gave the Iranian f14 to the US. Aslo Korea to USA is never gonna happen
Iran could still be a sub tree, just these vehicles may be excluded from it, just like what they did with Israel.
But I personally think the subtree leak seems very suspicious, I know the leaker has a goodish record but there are a few things in that leak which are questionable and already wrong.
I do also not understand why germany has to have switzerland as a sub tree. There would be much better sub trees for germany. Switzerland was not even axis, they were neutral. Much better fits would be either czech, turkey, romania, slowakia, and jugoslavia and austria.
