- Keen Vision - Determines at what distance the player can see an enemy ground vehicle, as well as the ability to see ones that are behind cover. The game server only sends information about a vehicle that’s concealed to the client when the player is at a minimal distance from the enemy. This distance is around 563 m if the player is looking directly at them, with a non-maxed-out crew. The distance of direct vision spotting is tripled when the player uses binoculars or fire control view, but vision becomes narrower. Players can also use the third-person camera to spot enemies within 235 m of the hull’s front and 97m around the vehicle. Leveling up keen vision to the maximum level on all of the crew members adds bonus vision up to 63% from the base. The crew can be “Aced” for another 63% to get a total of 222% vision effectiveness.
- Vehicles with Scouting have access to the modification “Improved Optics”, which multiplies the skill’s base power by 30%, helping them to scout and notice danger earlier than anyone else (at best, 1621 m without binoculars).
- In Arcade mode it also affects the distance at which a player can see markers on the enemy (through non-solid obstacles) and affects how much it tells you about the enemy (if the enemy is too far it simply says the class of the enemy’s vehicle without displaying the full vehicle name), and affects how much of an enemy vehicle must be exposed to notice and mark them. When maxed out, this skill even allows the player to see enemies through solid walls, although at very close range, and only when looking directly at them. Note that in Arcade “absolute detection” doesn’t mark everything in a 360-degree radius around the player. Only line-of-sight and line-of-movement spots work, so it is recommended for players to keep turning the camera around when driving in towns and mountains.
It does happen and I don’t mean that in the sense of “I’ve been shot but didn’t see anything, must be the game’s fault !”, Of course that’s the most common thing that happens to people and me as well (tunnel vision, bushes, derp brain…)
But there have been numerous clear cases where tanks popped into (or out of) existence 200m in front of me, most notably if I’m behind some fence or obstacle of sorts.
It’s not that common but I’ll see rendering glitches like this at least once a day so I’m sure it happens at times when I don’t notice as well.
And it happens to other people as well so, sometimes I’ll benefit from it I guess.
Maybe don’t quote something from Nov 23 … read on … I learned a few things on my way through this thread.
Wiki-quoting… adorable, but the vehicles (are supposed to) always render as long as you have a direct line of sight. That’s how it has been since they implemented the anti-cheat measure. Before that the game rendered every vehicle all the time. Go into custom match with someone, choose a map with large open fields and stand apart as far as you can. You will still be able to see the vehicle. Vehicles render no matter how far they are away! As long as the game doesn’t bug out of course.
Sorry, but no.
Radio comm skill also plays a part in the wider situation.
Because line of sight is a factor, and you doing it in an open field is just you trying to make a correct point, ignoring the situations.
Nope.
Not everything that works against you is a bug, sometimes it’s intentional.
“I’m going to make a throwaway sarcastic comment about the sources you are using because I dont have any of my own when I make random claims that amount to “you are wrong because i said so” and “I’m going to go into a custom battle and act I like this fabricated example I have made in a controlled environment reflects what will happen in a live match”, then I am going to blame the game being buggy for my inability to read”
Which the quote from the wiki I took doesn’t explicitly disagree with. It isnt true, but you clearly failed to understand what the wiki section is talking about. Read it again.
I can tell you they certainly don’t, and it is very easy to see this when playing air modes.
how about a link or a video to detail explain the SIGHT MECHANICS instead of bragging about knowing it?
the link expired but tnx for explaining it
Because it’s old knowledge, and the sources have been lost due to shuffling of the wiki and such…
But sure, label my passing on of this info as ‘bragging’… It’s not as if people take it on board anyway, because they seem to know better than to think about what things being stated in the stat cards mean.
tnk for sharing useful information link
There is more, but a lot of it is just getting people to notice the visibility stat, and acknowledge that it’s all about where you’re actively looking, and whether or not you are using the binoculars, along with if others can see it, and the radio op skills are high enough to promptly convey the info.
It is a tricky thing, but I have been about for so long that it’s just engrained.
The new wiki made the url wrong, this should work until the old wiki gets deleted Crew skills - War Thunder Wiki
I know I’m necroposting, but it’s been boiling inside me for a while. Why does netcode of this game sucks so much? Like I usually play at my regional server and it’s fine, unfortunately it’s population is low, so the server is dying out at exactly 23:59PM everyday. But I have a couple night gaming sessions a month, so I’m moving to a next lowest ping server, which is 200ms (NA). Top tier there is quite literally unplayable. Planes doing crazy stunts near the ground, rounds going through my enemies without damaging them, enemies shoting at me without even turning their turrets towards me. And it’s only me naming a few. Why? Why is it so damn bad?
It’s annoying because this makes sense for preventing cheats that provide enemy player location but is detrimental to players engaging with the game legitimately.
These are all signs of desync, and whilst you think the server is dying it’s more commonly not.
Another thread has Stona requesting replay IDs of those matches you find this sort of thing (The sudden ‘dying’ of servers) happening in. Your distinct timed one, could easily be vital to finding the true cause…
We were arguing about the render distance, which is infinite as long as the game thinks you should be able to see it. It was always like this.
Yup
When a tank only renders after it fired, it is a bug.
My source is that I play the game since 2014 and it has always worked like that. Invisible tanks only exist since they implemented the LoS requirement as a measure against wall hacks.
The game works the same in custom matches as it does in randoms. There is no valid “controlled environment” argument here.
Besides, quoting a wiki that everyone can edit as your main argument is just bad.
It is true. You can see tanks standing over 5km away. Which your quote is explicitly denying.
You’re mistaking markers for being able to see the vehicles with your own eyes on the screen, which is only limited by your resolution…
Surely
Would you like to tell us when that was?
Go and edit it then so it is correct.
Which quote denys this at this range? The Wiki article doesn’t, and nothing I’ve said does.
Markers are affected by the Pilot crew skill version of Keen Vision, which is different to the tanker version of keen vision. But you have contradicted yourself here, because you have just said that vehicles do not render based on screen resolution, which applies to ground RB just the same.
Nope, because when it’s firing it is adding to the formula.
And that, doesn’t happen… It’s not infinite, things won’t render all the time.
is a kind of nerf accounts, specially non pay players, sometimes helps wallet warriors
