I was part of the Beta testing for WT Infantry. There were several good things and several things that should be improved on IMHO. The game play was relatively smooth but it did lag occasionally. Not sure if that’s the game or the servers. The movement speed of the players was pretty slow and “running” was a bit clunky. The graphics and the details were fantastic. Taking out tanks and APCs as an infantry person with a shoulder fired RPG was pretty awesome. I have the Russian ground lineup in WT up to 10.3 and have several thousand hours in WT, so you could say I’m used to the controls and how the vehicles drive… Not sure why the tanks and APC in infantry didn’t drive anything like normal WT ground vehicles. These controls were clunky comparatively. The biggest flaw by far is the squad mechanics & movements. Mainly the lemming trains the AI makes your squad do. If you’re ambushing or sniping just watch an enemy “player” run past you then wait about 10 seconds for the “lemming train” of AI bots/ their squad following single file for an easy 3-4 kills. It kept happening again & again and ruined the game. If you did get shot then spawn into your next squad member it’s disorienting and hard to figure out where you are or are facing and you typically have 2-4 seconds to run in a panic before you get shot with the rest of your squad, just to spawn and have it all happen again & again 3-4 times then you respawn at the start. The AI for the squad is GARBAGE! I’d highly recommend checking out the SOCOM series of games for the PS2 & PS3 that use squad tactics and did a MUCH better job of it 20 years ago… There were setting for squad movements (close, far apart, scattered ect ect) when moving from location to location. It was 10 times smoother and more fun as well as not being so clunk you’re likely to get shot while trying to deal with the finicky & clunky mechanics in WT Infantry. Same to be said about trying to mount a weapon on a window or wall. So finicky about placement that you’re likely to get shot being silhouetted while trying to get the perfect little spot for the rifle to actually mount to the wall. It was fun but there are a TON of improvements to be made if you want it to be good Captain Snail. Keep at it, it’s good but really needs some work. Thanks for letting me beta test.
Is the test over? I dont see it anymore and can’t find anything about the dates.
I thought it was pretty cool but I’d like to see some more environment destruction, especially with tanks/rpg’s
