i dont know if it would be good to add playable infantry in war thunder, it would need an entirely new grinding system for their weapons or specialization and adjustment of their BR based on ground force br which then would generate conflict in the battle rating where ww2 transitions into cold war era
however adding a smart infantry IA for IFV would be cool so you could for example scatter them around the battlefield or have the group support the advance of your ifv maybe give them orders to defend a sector, seek and destroy enemy, ambush, etc which would be super useful for attacking CQC spots and give vehicles the chance to use their light caliber machineguns
adding infantry not only would compete with enlisted but could also requiere the modification of structures in maps such as adding detailed infrastructure suitable for infantry to navigate through
I expect paid “Infantry beta” somewhere this winter
Completely bugged as always
infantry will be main fighting force and tanks will cost sp like planes in grb.
Also paid 90$ premium pack fpv drones (completely broken and meta)
“IF” they end up coming to normal ground forces as player controlled squads like enlisted, perhaps making them cost 0 sp would be a good thing? Like im talking very very basic if any AT weapons to at least get the chance to get back in a vehicle.
Though if its just pure a.i., im all for it. Give my utility helicopters/APC something to finally do.
It’s going to be terrible. Imagine if they add player controlled infantry, especially AT armed. You’re going to have small targets hiding behind corners of buildings, peak, fire their AT weapon and then get back in cover. You’re going to have people camp in bushes and then hit you in the side or rear as you pass. People firing over a ridge line/hill and then quickly laying down afterwards.
If infantry can spot they’ll hide in buildings or camp in bushes just spotting you the entire game.
The only infantry we should add is AI infantry that fight each other and that we can participate in, making the game feel more immersive like a proper combined arms battlefield. Then stationary, and destructible, AT emplacements in spawns to help slow down spawn camping.
Don’t want:
•Player Controlled Infantry
•An Infantry tech tree
Do want:
•Deployable Infantry for IFV/APCs and Helicopters
•Upgradable stats (Crew stats for Infantry)
•Objectives based on Infantry support
•Customizable Squad loudouts (Modifications/camos)
•Simple commands (Follow, attack, defend, Halt, etc.)
•Historical skins ( VDV Berezka, USMC MARPAT, PLA Type 07)
I don’t think we will get PVP infantry anytime soon…
As WT does not have a PVE game in GB i am unsure where they can add infantry. AT guns exist and they are not used in PVP games…
I would play PVE where you had to fight tanks, AT guns and infantry…but i doubt the work is worth it (for Gaijin). We can always hope…
A tank campaign where you would play evolving tanks in realistic scenarios would be GREAT!
Mate, did you missed the leaks? The leaks from a reliable leaker no less. Ofc plans tends to change with time, but dismiss them so whimsically is foolish
Although they are quite similar and share some stuff (base engine, assets), they are different, like Enlisted damage model is more simplistic, arcady than that we have in WT
There are plenty of ideas I like that I know will never make it into WT, I’m not confusing wishful thinking with reality. The difference here is that I’m basing this on reliable info. Leakers like Olivia have consistently been accurate with their insights long before official announcements and that’s why I worded it the way I did, because when a source with that track record points toward something, it’s worth discussing as more than just a fantasy.
Dismiss it if you want but don’t act like people are just pulling this out of thin air…
Nobody here is mistaking leaks for official patch notes, man. The difference is some leakers (like Olivia) have been dead-on time and time again, which makes their info worth paying attention to. Writing it all off as “maybes” like it’s the same as random wishlisting is ignoring the reality.
And muting the thread right after dropping a big “it’ll never happen, end of story” isn’t the flex you think it is, it just makes it look like you wanted the last word without sticking around to defend it (that’s what just happened). Honestly from the outside it feels less like you’re being realistic and more like you just want attention by taking the contrarian angle when most people here already pointed out how accurate these leaks usually are.
How do you call it when Olivia accurately confirmed, for example the Vilkas, among many other vehicles, to arrive in the previous updates in the exact nation that was said? Once again, It’s just contrarian speech.
