Infantry: an opportunity to add more light armor?

What Gaijin has put into our brains with War Thunder is that warfare is a glorious gladiator fight between MBTs.

In real life, this is complete bullshit, and I hope everyone is aware of it. Either way, I think that War Thunder has way too many experimental and project vehicles to deal with a perceived shortage (which isn’t even true, as there are plenty of real vehicles out there that would fit perfectly between 6.3 to 8.7). I think that with the introduction of infantry, Gaijin would finally have a reason to add assets that don’t necessarily have a 30mm autocannon or an ATGM strapped to them. Think about it: the original M113 with the standard .50 cal, the M117 Guardian, the BRDM-2, the Patria 6x6, etc… You name it.

Because War Thunder has SPGs, ATGM carriers, SPAAs, rocket artillery trucks, and more, it simply makes no sense that we keep fighting in 4x4 claustrophobic maps that turn into absolute shitholes, especially at top tier.

I think that if infantry is going to be in the game, it is most logical that light armor and mraps are included in the same tech tree where you would research your firearms.

And no dont come tell me “arma is that way” because frankly WT has too much potential to be a proper milsim and not a tank knifefight

Let me know what you guys think. If you want to help me test some of this 32vs32 milsim-style gameplay, dm me, but i need alot of people, and people who arent little fragile bitches who complain at the trash textures, not my fault.

oh and before any of you comes and tells me “ion wanna drive for 2 hours” first, its false, second, captured zones are respawn points

Would you like to see this in game?

plus I’d need gaijin to fix the drones in custom lobbies

I yearn for the Patria

I find this to be more than agreeable, having this concept in alone could expand possible vehicle additions by twofold considering that we’d have the Korean war and up to work with, and similarly, you could have even current IFVs as infantry carriers, which would be a good way to start off the concept and to build up from it. In the other hand, it’s ultimately up to Gaijin whether or not they take the game into this direction at all, but I do remain hopeful.

Think about it, researching a maxxpro with an M4A1

@White_Timberwolf

Gonna be the best opportunity and place for the lightly armed, lightly armoured vehicles

oh yeah, not every country has a budget for a whole MBT program, and as we’ve seen, rarely some get it right, However, there’s thousands of light armored vehicles and MRAPs, Countries often build their own

Surprised we already don’t have it in game there is a ATGM version

Most armoured truck vehicles just get a ATGM because you can but the wars in the 2000s did develop the concept though just like armoured cars of before (ww1 / 2) they underperformed when faced with another nation.

With infantry mrap vehiclea are going to be a must just because they make great APC and there sort of work with the whole infantry vibe. People would be sad if no mrap.

There are a lot of them so many companies in USA cooked up there own versions and went bust or become a police equipment supplier with there hulks popping up in strange places.

Plus one for monster truck

Japan has a mrap called the bushmaster it’s domestic might be a export vehicle soon as well.

Lince my beloved

but look, also, this could give way to many more nations to be included, of course, take for example Belgium, of which will for sure be a tech tree, considering how many firearms they produce, they’ve basically armed the whole west. Austria with Glock, Czechia with CZ

Gaijin is going to have to be carful on how they set up the rules or every nation will have every gun. Unlike WW2 fire arms kind of became international with designs and with so many nations having illegal copies.

One thing for team America is there strange love of gun truck concepts.

Vietnam was the golden day of the gun truck but they keep reappearing for the USA this one is Iraq though FPV drone might make these trucks a little less effective especially in game.

The hummer is also a vehicle I am looking forwarded as a light armored vehicle but we could have had more of them in game already so many ATGM and other modifications of them

Gun trucks are amazing, but yeah, the US would have a crazy amount of light armor

Hummer is the modern Sherman tank miss international. Also so many clones of the hummer.

gaijin did promise us infantry and vehicle interaction

They already got it done in enlisted its not that hard. Hopefully it means for infantry mode vehicle death is a bit more complex.

Hummers have been found in the file apparently so ya its happening.

oh yeah and the original M113 aswell
