Hello everyone! As a big fan of tactical shooters like Ready or Not and an active participant in the Infantry CBT, I’ve gathered some ideas to make the infantry mode in War Thunder truly unique and atmospheric.
- Atmosphere and “Heavy Reality” (Environment)
- Detailed Interiors: We need to move away from “empty concrete boxes.” Adding household items, furniture, and personal belongings inside buildings will tell a story and increase immersion for the mature audience.
- Interactive Details: TVs showing white noise or old broadcasts, broken phones, and debris. This creates a feeling that people lived here just yesterday.
- Ambient Sounds: Sounds of abandoned villages, like distant dogs barking or doors creaking in the wind within large hangars. This builds tactical tension.
- Gameplay and Class System
- Role-Based Squads: A full system including Engineers, Snipers, Gunners, and Battalion Commanders with unique tactical tasks.
- Weapon Customization: Modular progression for rifles (sights, grips, rails) so players can tailor their gear to their playstyle.
- New UI: A 3D soldier model on the left of the selection screen with a clear gear/camouflage customization panel on the right.
- Logistics and Large-Scale Operations
- Deployment Phase: Starting the match by loading into trucks (Urals, Kamazs, Humvees) and moving in a convoy under tank escort.
- Heavy Airlift: Paradropping players from large aircraft like the Il-76 or Mi-26 helicopters.
- Modern Threats: Implementing FPV/recon drones (like “Vampire”) for dropping munitions on tanks hiding in bushes.
- Fire Support: Replacing standard artillery with a “TOS-1 Solntsepyok” barrage to clear infantry out of fortified buildings.
- Technical Improvements
- Optimization: Using advanced LOD systems so that high interior detail doesn’t kill FPS on lower-end PCs.
- Lighting Fixes: Fixing the bug where light from RPG shots or tank muzzles clips through apartment walls.
- Night Ops: Full support for night battles with IR lasers and NVGs, utilizing the Dagor engine’s lighting capabilities.
- Camouflage: At least 5 authentic camo patterns per nation to actually blend in with forest or urban environments.
I believe these details will make War Thunder’s infantry even more engaging than specialized titles like Squad.
