Absolutely. I mostly play sim nowadays and the rewards for destroying ground units are pathetic. They’re significantly harder to target than bases, they put you at a much greater risk of being shot down and most planes just don’t have enough ordnance to make a difference in the objective. Chances are the targets will despawn before you can go back to base enough times to destroy them all.
There also needs to be more target variety. A mix of soft and armored targets scattered around the map, not just the same randomly spawning battles and convoys.
It’s the same with AI ships. I love destroying ships because of the detailed damage models, but the amount of score they give is just miserable. Unless you have a bomber with a massive payload it takes multiple sorties to destroy even a destroyer. Rewards for destroying them should be increased.
The problem is the too linear design of the distribution of the ground units. Unless you have a very fast bomber with a big bomb load and some luck, you’re not going to get a match grindwise.
So in ARB there is nothing a strike aircraft can do because they are irrelevant on what they’re supposed to do: to win or to grind just get a fighter because there is no place for ground strike missions.
Yeah, more missions related to ground strike. What if there was a set of missions that comes one after another related to, for example: helping allied ground units advance through a mountain pass, then other mission would trigger to capture a base with said allied units? And then another mission triggers, one after another from the developments it had on the mission before? Like a chain of events.
Greatly increased they should. They take so much time and are worthless despite being so cool you needing to aim for modules to actually disable and kill them.
We should think on how strike aircraft could fit in ARB then. Probably increasing rewards would be the last step to anything related to it.
I say this because maybe it is less the ground units not giving a worth reward despite the time they take and more because ARB, and ASB too, are much more centred on air-to-air or base bombing as what decides who wins or who’s getting the rewards.
Yeah, but still it would have other problem related of how is set missions on ARB and ASB.
Per example: if Gaijin were to increase rewards on all ground units, in most maps you would still suffer from the prevalence of the “air-to-air meta” because killing ground units would still be of secondary importance in winning matches. The way it is now, first what decides the matches are the air-to-air combat, then who wins that get to kill the ground units if the match don’t end briefly.
It would ease the grind, true, but there would still be a problem of strike aircraft having no place in ARB.
