How can such a long ammunition belt only contain 70 shells?

MiG-17 also aren’t small
That’s a Mig 19 and we can do some basic math.
A 30mm round plus the belt link is roughly 45mm.
70 rounds × 45mm = 3150mm (3.15 meters)
The wing of a MiG-19 is about 4.5 meters long. That means just the ammo for one gun is alr 2/3 the length of the wing. Not to mention about the weight too.
Edit: the Migs are surprisingly small when u see them irl compare to Western jet.
