In-game all team voice chat

So, this game has a team coordination issue. While it’s known that most of the playerbase speaks different languages, a voice chat would, in my opinion, benefit the game massively (it would also help lower racial insult spams when a teammate doesn’t help you). Even if we have a text chat system, typing takes time and has a cooldown while speaking in real time is fast and helps when you try to coordinate with someone. Take CS:GO, TF2 comp mode, Arma 3, all games that I play and all have a functional and helpfun VC system. It surprises me how the devs haven’t already implemented this in this in game. If not for RB, sim mode would benefit from VC a lot since it can be compared to TF2 comp.

Please don’t.

I fly enough axis in air sim to see people with funny names that I would absolutely not want to be anywhere near them in voice chat.

T-4-1, T-4-2, “Attention to grid square” and “Leading for landing” are sufficient for dealing with randoms without any vetting.

And for vetting, there’s Wingaling’s team sim LFG discord.

Nah if anything it’d make it even worse cause it’s easier to just belt out things over vc than typing it. If you want coordination in this game with vc, you’re better off to squad up with a couple people and use an external comms service instead of trying to interact with a majority of the enemies in blue

A team channel with 16 people? i’m sure it’s gonna be chaotic as hell.

Don’t you think it’s gonna exacerbate the problem?I can foresee a lot of N-word and ‘Chxxx Chxxx’ in it, and the worst part is that gaijin can’t even determine them to be an insult and ban those people unlike in text chat

Still, it’s a good suggestion to let the team more co-operative instead of just being an enemy in blue.

we’re going back to mw2 on the 360 with this one bois

I wish I could talk into my mic to give radio commands. It’s really stupid having to select them. Especially with an xbox controller. The angle that I must hold the joystick is oddly specific for certain commands. Remember back when the first xbox came out? There was a game, I think it was splinter cell, and you could talk into your mic to give orders to your ai team mates. What happened to great ideas like that?

You should be able to bind specific radio commands to fixed keys.

Dunno if controller has enough buttons for it tho.

I have F6 as “Follow me!”, F7 as “Cover me!” and F8 as “Leading for landing”.
(follow me being: “I am in this grid sector and altitude. I am friendly. Do not shoot. Anyone else, please also declare your altitude and location if you are in vicinity.”
Cover me being: “I am in this grid sector and altitude. I am engaged with at least 1 confirmed hostile and I am on the defensive.”
Leading for Landing: “I am in this grid sector and altitude, and I am returning to base and therefore cannot assist, sorry!” (chosen over “Returning to base” as it marks gridsquare and altitude)

Vetting for what?

Making sure they’re not people who will harrass you for hearing your non-standard voice, accent, mannerisms, intonation etc.

Making sure they’re not people who think it’s funny to joke about anti-human topics.

I’ve made the mistake of “befriending” someone back in RO2 days who celebrated human death just because of the circumstance of their birth, and I have no desire for a repeat event.

WT community is pretty edgy, and moderating voice chat will require every server replay to include voice data, and navigating those replays is a giant PITA because they can only be played forward only local replays can be rewound or navigated by timestamps.

Unless they fix the replay system I doubt moderators are gonna want to deal with it, especially when 90% of reports are gonna be innoucous bs that shouldn’t have been sent in.

I forgot that the crews are unconscious

And privacy violation given Warthunder allows teenagers to play, and the EU and UK have fairly strict laws about what data can and cannot be saved regarding minors.

Yeah that’s the trouble. My brain is wired to play with the controller, but I wish there was a few extra buttons, even if they had to sit on the desk. I’ve got a whole keyboard and oddly, I can press ‘enter’ instead of ‘a’ on the first screen upon loading the game, and ‘esc’ often works to exit menus but without putting it in the full m&kb mode, it won’t do anything else.

The stupidest thing is that some controllers have paddles underneath, but you can only map them to existing buttons to replace the button. Not add more functions. It’s a missed opportunity really.
