I’ve noticed a recurring issue in my matches that I believe warrants attention. In a recent game, there were 10 high-level players in a 32-player match, with 7 on one side and 3 on the other. Unsurprisingly, the team with 7 high-level players emerged victorious. This situation raises two key concerns:
- Unbalanced Player Placement: The presence of so many high-level players creates an unfair advantage before the match even begins.
- Limited Opportunities for Lower-Level Players: Only high-level players can realistically secure kills and earn scores.
While I appreciate the Battle Rating (BR) and ranking system for effectively mitigating hacking issues, facing a level 14 player against a level 100 player is frustrating for both parties. This imbalance can diminish the experience for all players, including those who invest real money in premium tanks. Despite their investment, these VIP players may struggle against opponents with significantly more experience and knowledge of the game.To enhance matchmaking fairness, I suggest implementing a system that places players within a +/- 20 level range. This change could lead to more balanced matches and a better overall experience for everyone in War Thunder.
Does this include not letting low level players buy top tier premiums?
Seems like that would solve most of the issues

premiums and not premiums have right to play in rank2 and above where less cheater can reach, the suggestion solely recommending to players with same skill(player level) match with each other witch I believe is the goal of matchmaker
Player level is only equivalent to time played. A lvl 100 player who only plays air will be as good at ground as a level 10 would be.

Or, putting low-level premium players in a separate queue so that they all fight eachother.
Rank literally means nothing in this game.

The player info in the detail section shows their experience in ground, air, and naval combat, as well as which types of tanks or fighters they are most familiar with. In contrast, the image I posted in this thread reveals that all top four opponents are level 100, indicating they have significant experience compare to others. This is evident from the kill-to-death ratio in the first image, where the top player killed eight tanks with zero deaths and captured two points. I aimed to express my point more concisely in my post because excessive detail can make it boring and unnecessarily long.
some of the player base do buy prems tanks wich lead them to high tier games. before the new player even learn the game
I think you don’t realize how little rank correlates with player experience. I’m level 100. The dude from your first screenshot has more battles on that Avenger than I do with all tanks combined.

In my previous comment, I mentioned that by the +/- 20 level range I meant the matchmaker also considers players’ Kill-to-Death ratios from ground battles, which are detailed in player info. The matchmaker suggested to takes into account both player experience and tank Battle Ratings to ensure a more enjoyable match for both sides. I won’t delve into specific parameters since I’m not part of the development team, and too much detail can make the post tedious.
Unfortunately, as a new player, I have to compete in Rank 1, even though my tanks are researched to Rank 3. Most veteran players are in Rank 2 and above, forcing me to stay in Rank 1 to avoid them. However, unfair matches still occur. For instance, a level 100 player entered Rank 1 and single-handedly ruined the game for everyone. How can new players enjoy the game and become future veterans when they are unfairly outmatched by much more experienced players? When will the matchmaking system pair players of similar experience levels?
1 Br +? Its to difficult…
They decided long ago not to have skill based matchmaking and rely purely on vehicle BRs. This leaves room for some unbalances…as the 7vs3 you mention…
(bear in mind that the rank only reflects the number of battles, not skill…there is no way i know of to include player win ratios…and i saw lots of “lower level” players being the best in match)
Not sure if they believe skill matchmaking to be manipulable or too hard to mix with BR system…or simply unnecessary.
It doesn’t mean jack. You keep arguing about what type of fighter they’re familiar with.
2017, that’s how long I have been playing 8 years.
Am I good at the game HElllll fricken no and I’ve still gotten people claiming I’m cheating, I shouldn’t be fighting noobs and these responses were based on my level. That doesn’t mean jack to me cause it only ever went higher when I collected vehicles, or did achievements and stuff.
A level 100 player≠player experience.
I can say for sure that the balance issues will never be addressed because it benefits the developers. They know that frustrated players are more likely to spend real money, and that would make more money than doing something about it and increasing new player retention. Also, it would make the sealclubbers cry because they will not be able to punish noobs.
That is why I am always for a ranked mode GRB would solve lot’s of issues but other players say no because they can’t stomp others with closed eyes ;)
