Improvements to Tank Mobility Mechanics: New Steering Mechanisms and Engine Refinements

I would also have expected it, but the Leclerc is suspiciously absent from the list of tank with regen (while AMX30 is ?)

This is friggen amazing. I wonder if this would also apply to the 120S as im stuck with that thing until the Abrams. Don’t get me wrong, for 10.3 its got a practically one-shot dart that’s friggen amazing (500mm of pen at 100m, best shell at its br), but its so slow, and has a glassy chassis. Its turret can stop some stuff tho.

Since it’s based on the M60 it would! There are very few tanks that are not going to be changed by this, mostly early WW2 ones like the T-34

Older american tanks may get somewhat nerfed. The final drives they used according to @FlipAllTheTables has no mechanical lockup, which means its constantly driving around with the fluid coupling, reducing power efficiency.

Mr snail this update the most cool update will done more katttttttttttttttt

I read in the documentation that the Leopard 1’s torque converter has a lock-up clutch, but this is only released in 1st gear and for a brief moment during gear changes to absorb shift shock.

In other words, it seems important to note that torque amplification doesn’t always occur just because a torque converter is installed.

Yes this is the case, the TC is only used for starting the vehicle or towing, so usually only first gear, or occasionally 2nd, as on challenger 2.

This is cool. If this is really that useful ingame is questionable. If you implement this then when do wheeled vehicle get working diff locks? I don’t think any military wheeled vehicle wouldn’t have a diff lock but it’s not ingame and makes them get stuck alot

@zarusoba10 looks like the turbines are abit borked. Abrams should have a torque converter for low speed. Whereas the T-80 uses clutches (thus loses some power transfer directly) whereas the TC will have its own inefficiencies.

@Stona_WT Question about the turbine models, currently it looks like both the t-80 and abrams use direct drive for the gas turbine, however this isnt possible in life, the instant torque and shock would rapidly break the transmission components, there would be no smoothing. The abrams uses a torque converter to maintain stability and have the added benefit of torque multiplication, T-80 uses clutches like a “normal” vehicle in game, is this reflected in the new modelling? Because it seems both vehicles now accelerate at an immense rate, whereas 0-32 would usually take circa 6-7s on an abrams, its taking 2-3s now.

BVVD mentioned that Leopard 2s with new transmission reworked gotten the worst turn radius and will think if it should be added or not

My opinion? Add it anyway, and then fix up all the other problems the Leopard 2 has.

I agree, with the amount of Leopard 2A4s in-game it would make sense to allow one of the premiums to have the new steering technology (so everyone can test-drive it) while keeping a TT 2A4 with the original steering.

So can I opt out of the new steering in the options, and keep using what we have in the game now?

It is not an option, it is a fixed system.

You mean adding the Leo 2 to the test or adding regen steering as a whole?

Also that turn radius is how it is IRL or it’s bugged currently?

As a whole, and I wouldn’t know but I’m not surprised if it’s worse among other MBTs because it is quite realistic in that sense especially first gear turning.
