So I’ve had an idea for customization of vehicles for a long time now, and I want to share it with others to see what they think and to see if it would have a chance at coming to the game.
So my idea is that Gaijin adds a new customization features to the game, so adding custom battle damage, more realistic camos, also having the ability to remove/damage zimmerit, and also having the ability to remove spare tracks, or add more tracks for spare armor or even add tree branches for armor like what we see on the tiger ost.
The images below are some examples of what I’d love to see in the game.

I’d love to see a lot more customization options when it comes to war thunder because if I’m going to be honest, I personally think the customization system is very limiting and dull. And I think adding my idea would make the game feel a little more lifelike and gives vehicles a unique look.

Dude I’d love this for some vehicles, but I’d be concerned that not enough vehicles would have the feature to make it relevant or fair.
I’m confident that gaijin could do it for every vehicle in the game. And plus, that’s just my idea for ground, I also have another idea for aircraft but its more simplified.
I’m sure the resources and manpower are availible to implement for an appropriately wide range of vehicles, however I feel it is more an issue of incentive. I would really like to see this implemented, especially adding custom track armour, and the ability to move/remove implements already present on ingame vehicles. I’d certainly vote in favour of having this into the game, although I’d be cautious of players innate ability to break the system.
Just out of curiosity, how would players break it?
Depends on how they implement it.
If players could place things, they will 100% find ways to glitch tracks and/or add them in close rows to take advantage of volumetric eating shots.
I think it would be most enjoyable for the players if they could place objects manually, however that carries the most risk of abuse. Even if restrictions are in place I’m confident players would be able to find methods of stacking add ons to abuse protection increases. This would be solved by having varied presets for players to chose from, although that would likely come with aditional development time requirements.
Before this thread gets inevitably locked for not being in the suggestions section, Im gonna say that i agree with this being abusable as hell, as others have pointed out.
That being said i would pay ungodly amount of money to remove sideskirts on most vehicles lol.

I’m going to go a little bit more in depth. Realism. I’ve never seen a tiger or a panther with a double stack of tracks. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s just something I’ve never seen in WW2 photos or videos, so they could make it where you can only have a single layer of tracks.
I’ve not seen pictures with double layers of tracks either, I meant players finding a way to place double layers of tracks, or tracks in odd orientations, even with restrictions.
Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. I have an idea for that but i honestly how no clue how to word it out. lol
