With all the new high scan volume, AESA radars, the need for improved target selection, especially in the heat of battle has only increased even more significantly.
This suggestion is for improvements to the Cyclic target selection. At the moment, the target selected looks and feels rather random, and cycling through 30+ contracts to get the correct one is very frustrating, especially when time is a factor. And whilst there are other options such as ACM and HMD target selection, these come with some negatives and may not be an option if the target is beyond visual range.
So the proposal is this. Add additional keybind options for different methods of cycling through possible radar contacts, with this suggestion specifically for targetting the contact closest to an aircrat’s boresight, cycling outwards based upon distance from the boresight, this could also be limited to just the 5-10 closest contacts rather than all contacts within the FoV of the radar, just to make cycling through them all much easier.
for example, in this it would select the closest target on the right, instead of the target furthest to the left as can be seen in this video, cycling through the targets to select the right one is very annoying, with this proposed setting it would have been a single key press and the target would be acquired isntantly. (Whilst yes, mouse target selection is an option, it can be very unrelaible in my experience)
