IMAM Romeo Ro.37bis “Lince”.

History.

The IMAM Romeo Ro.37 is a single-engine biplane recognition aircraft produced by the IMAM company in the first half of the 1930s. The aircraft was built after the Ministry of Aeronautics issued a specification for the supply of a new light ground recognition aircraft in the early 1930s. IMAM proposed the Ro.30, but the examining commission was not impressed. It was therefore decided to design a completely new aircraft, called Ro.37. The vehicle was designed by engineer Giovanni Galasso who created a traditional aircraft with a sesquiplane wing configuration in aluminum and canvas suitable for both reconnaissance and close support to ground troops. The prototype of the aircraft flew for the first time on 6 November 1933, and the aircraft was widely used by the Italian Royal Air Force until the early 1940s. While the aircraft was in service it was decided to improve its qualities, and it was thought to re-engine the aircraft with an air-cooled radial engine: the idea was realised, thus giving birth to the Ro.37bis, which saw service during the Spanish Civil War and during the first periods of the Second World War. Only one example currently exists and is preserved in Vigna della Valle (example found in Afghanistan).

Armaments and propulsion.

The aircraft was armed with two 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns placed in the fighter with a load of 500 rounds per gun and a 7.7 mm Lewis machine gun placed in a defensive position that could be wielded by the observer. Furthermore, the aircraft could load up to 72 kg of bombs.
As an engine, the plane was powered by a 560 hp Piaggio P.IX R.C.40 engine, which could push the plane up to a maximum speed of 330 km/h

Even if it might be only a reconnaissance airplane with weak defences, it could still be fun to fly in War Thunder.

I suggested both, eheheh.

I knew it, I was only teasing ;)
P.s. you also did the standard 37? If not I could do it myself

This is the “standard” 37. This was built before the creation of the Breda-SAFAT in 1935.

So they are both standard.

Good news everyone, bombload is 72x2kg bombs or 12x12kg bombs

Where did you get that infos?

A +1 from me. It would be nice to see the 37bis. I got to see the preserved example back in June, and I have to say they did a really good job restoring it! That said, It’s not actually the only example of the 37bis in existence; from what I recall, the MUSAM has four hulks in storage. There was also a fifth example sold to a British Collector (also recovered by the Italians from Afghanistan) and one recovered and preserved at the Italian Embassy in Kabul.
