Background

In 1950, China began importing IL-10s from the Soviet Union, these IL-10s differed from Normal IL-10s, almost all of the Imported IL-10s were only armed with either 2 Yva-23 or NS-23, aswell as the defensive armament. It is also believed that some Avia B-33 were thrown into the mix, as a upgrade program for the IL-10 is believed to have been on the airframe of the Czechoslovakian manufactured Avia B-33.
On October 15th, 1950, the Soviets stationed in Shanghai handed over 25 IL-10 aircraft to the 13th regiment of the 4th Composite Air Brigade.
On October 1st, 1951, 31 IL-10s took part in the National day parade, the first parade where they were shown to the public.
By 1952, a total of 274 IL-10s had been delivered.
In 1955, IL-10s aided the infantry on the attack of Battle of the Yijiangshan Islands, which resulted in a PLA victory.
From the date of the IL-10s introduction up untill it was retired, the IL-10 took part in Anti-Insurgency, Battles against the ROC, and Training Flights.
It wasnt until December 2nd, 1972, that the IL-10 was finally retired and replaced by the Nanchang Q-5, although an upgrade program never eventually went through, it is impressive that a 1940s era aircraft went on to serve until the early 1970s, by the time of the IL-10s retirement, it still had 103 operational aircraft.
