If you think naval is boring read this

Naval bluewater is very repetitive at times and coastal will get you one shot if you pair it up with bluewater.
However, there is one exception.
The G-5 motor torpedo boat(G-5 - War Thunder Wiki)

The soviet reserve tier coastal boat is much much stronger than you think.

at first, you may think it is absolutely useles due to the fact that there is only one Dshk machine gun. However, the boat has a really low profile, extremely high speed(132 kph) and extremely effective torpedoes.

The boat’s profile is so low that even against destroyers and cruisers most shells just fly overhead and miss, allowing the boat to fire it’s torpedoes and making it game over for the destroyers.
if you wanna play naval i suggest you try this out(PT boats are also great but not as fast and have a larger profile).

G5 is a nice boatie agreed, altho pr.123 with their better speed and mgs are generally better for destroyer hunting. But this:

Is just wrong, with a salvo of multiple cannons it makes no difference if you are shooting g5 or pt6, both will die.

What happens is that on low destroyer tiers a lot of people cannot yet aim accurate at fast moving targets. If you find somebody with good aim, your low profile wont save you:)

Agreed but it is just hard to hit in general

I actuallly don’t think that naval is boring, especially early Coastal, its gameplay is faster than in ground battles. Sadly most of people don’t find boats interesting in general and that’s why ignore them, it’s similar to how most of people choose to grind big 3 instead of other nations.

As a former World of Warships player it just made no sense to me, tier IX destroyers like Fletcher at 4.7BR and tier III ships like Dreadnought at the top. And extreme br compression.

Also spawning 3km from each other in the low tier blue water modes, so you are already trying to fire at each other whilst simultaneously trying not to get hit as soon as you spawned.

I was trying for the event vehicle and the challenge to kill 10 people with torpedoes and i just cant. If i manage to get a torpedo plane to spawn in i have all of the enemeys teams AA shooing at me. so 10 vs 1 geese whose going to win that one? I am not that great with naval as i dont know where to shoot the ships and i get one shot from across the map or i have 5 people focus firing on me from the very start of the match and this is beyond frustrating. Not to mentions if i am in a smaller ship, other players on my team just dont watch where they are going and ram into me, killing me a few times.

Trying to get a torpedo kill is like trying to get a nuke in ground battle. The enemy sees them coming and maneuvers away 98% of the time. Even shooting torps from .5 miles away in a massive spread no torp hit. The torp kills i do have are from playing arcade and spamming torps at random toward enemy locations and blind corners.

I finally have a match where i got 4 kills and a few assist and my mission score was miserably low for the amount of work put in to just get those 4 kills. By the end of the day i only had 24k mission score and needed 21k more to just get the task done, and a crap load more if i wanted to make the coupon.

The rewards for navel are not worth it to me. the progression again is too slow, the rewards are to low and the game play is too frustrating and mundane

Yea its just weird. Personally I would like to see them redo naval completely. I want to say that I’d like to see a tree layout like that of wows but im not sure it would work in WT :/ Certainly not without making major changes to how Navals MM works.

I love Top Tier blue water!

The thrill of knowing that each shell you fire can make the difference, the micro-management of each repair type (fire, flood, repairs) to prioritise and optimise the repair and reload rimes…

Every time you see a salvo coming and you wonder; will my armor stop it, or will it blow me up? And every time you fire a salvo at an enemy, and you wonder: will it hit as I intended and cause the effects I planned, or do I need to re-adjust my aim for that to happen?

Watching the enemy slowly flood and lose crew AS you do too, until you finally manage to hit the ammorack sweet spot and they blow up; or both of you harassing each other until the crew of one of the ships is too weak to perform their duties as their ship sinks…

Seriously.

It may be “slow paced” in the sense that you don’t go around skipping at 90 km/h and finishing matches in 5 minutes, and it may have some serious issues; but I find it to be absolutely THRILLING.

naaaaah Naval is most boring game mode ever, just complete waste of time.

If you ever want to take more time grinding coastal stuff, I recommend Japan’s PT-15 for your torpedo tasks. It might not have the best gun coverage, but it is decently fast for its size, but the notable bit is that its torpedoes are amazing (300 kg of tnt but 120 km/h speed) and you get 4 of them. You can face bluewater destroyers near your spawn, lob torps at them, duck away and with some luck, you will sink someone.

i may have to try that

Things to keep in mind about it: it’s still a huge speedboat so you might have to watch out for fellow speedboats, and while it may have two excellent bofors, you can only get good use of both of them when you are practically broadsiding the enemy. Which, once again, makes you a big target for them.
