If you could, how would you re-balance CAS in Ground Battles?

Yeah I’m not discarding everything you’re saying but I just want to point out that the game already gives players the freedom to make the wrong decision in a lot of ways even when it just makes their experience worse, so I’m wondering how far we need to bend over backwards to get people to do the basic things you should be learning at BR 3.0 in BR 11.7. If you get to top tier and still refuse to do what needs to be done to win, you just don’t care if you win or not and want to have fun your own way, and I kind of respect that. I don’t think we need to make warthunder about winning, especially since there’s a lot of people who would rather leave if you tried to make them do it anyway.

Doesn’t mean I can’t speak about it, there ate an infinite amount of content regarding this game online and it includes CAS, which is clearly stupid easy to do… I’ve only two planes because i simply stopped playing them as they are not fun for me and don’t play top tier because i don’t find it interesting. Why would this stop me from speaking about the subject? Your argument makes no sense, I’m not gonna talk about top tier SPAAs and CAS because i haven’t experienced it but it i can talk about the general experience i have with the game and low-mid tier CAS

I’m pointing out that you can’t make the claim that it’s easy because you don’t even know how to play it or have done anything to demonstrate that your determination that it’s easy is coming from somewhere other than youtube opinions.

I did play CAS, you’re blatantly wrong… and to this day those planes are the vehicle in which i have some of the best K/D.

I really don’t get your argument because here you’re just lying

It is blatantly apparent to me that you don’t get it, yes.

I don’t think war Thunder should be about winning, I think there’s some confusion on that, the problem is if no one plays AA, which happens relatively frequently, you just get shit on by CAS, and you get a domino effect of “well, I don’t wanna play AA, someone else will”, while I myself don’t mind playing AA, it’s really annoying playing countries like Japan at 12.0 where I get the Tan Sam, which is just straight unfettered ass, and I have literally zero other way of dealing with aircraft, which is especially annoying for me since I’m a CAS magnet for some reason, which leaves me at the mercy of my teammates to actually get in AA, and have them actually do their job. What I was getting at with the “winning” part is most games for me end in getting spawn camped because half my team is dead, and a large part of that is because they get killed by cas twice and leave, I think a lot more people would stop their team from dying if it meant they’d get a real reward from winning, but obviously I have no proof of that It’s just my belief it would make a small impact.

I think if Gaijin proposed to go along with what you’re saying, I’d have no problem giving it a shot, I’m only saying I have serious doubts it would move the needle in anyway. The teams are genuinely awful almost always and none of the existing tools in the game that help players work together and win have a strong record of bearing meaningful change.

You’re not dismissing me like that. So what if i haven’t played CAS, which i did but since you appear to be all knowing apparently i didn’t, it the ground vehicles mode, the opinion of the ground vehicle player should matter more in confront of someone who wouldn’t play in their own. You can do CAS in Air mode, nobody is forcing you to ruin every tankers game

And I completely get where you’re coming from, and I 90% agree, but the CAS problem realistically is never GOING to be fixed, it’s just going to take a lot of small incremental changes to at least improve the situation. As I already said in my closing thoughts, CAS needs to be in the game, but it’s virtually impossible to properly balance.

Oh yeah, for sure.

And adding back onto what you said earlier as well, I feel like another major issue that I forgot to mention is the fact that this is one of the least new player friendly games on the planet, and a large chunk of the player base doesn’t know what the fuck they’re doing by the time they get to this point, Community Guides exist, but that’s not good game design, aren’t entirely sustainable, and most people don’t go looking for them. I feel like adding tutorials for new features, tips, and strategies as you unlock new ranks would be an amazing stepping stone for those issues, as well as possibly official guides (real ones, not the bs they have now) that are linked in the actual game to make it more accesible for people.

CAS is easy, You can check my profile, especially Yak-9K/UT or F4U-4B

CAS with those planes is easy, and as I said the cas problem is more nuanced than every single air asset being overpowered. I’d recommend reading the comment chain. Buffs and nerfs need to be applied more carefully and with more controls than just BR.

And realistically it wouldn’t even be that hard to outsource the work lol, just ask youtubers for permission to have in game links to those tutorials, or have them embedded in the game somewhere. Gives the youtuber more traffic as well as making learning easier.

CAS with most planes is easy, in order to destroy best tank user in enemy team without him being able to do anything about You, You need 250kg bomb or even 100kg is enough in many cases.

In many cases You don’t even need anti-tank belt in order to be able to destroy tanks.

Nerfs/buffs are being constantly applied since 2014 and nothing changed much.

That’s true, but most of the kills done this way are still planes that only get 1-2 kills total before dying, wasting a tremendous amount of SP in hopes of demoralizing the top tier player. You can do this with a scout car and a wide flank too on a good number of maps. The plane getting a kill doesn’t mean it is unbalanced, for 3x the SP cost or more, it should be getting at least that. In fact, the SP cost alone is evidence that they should be balanced to overperform a similar BR ground unit, even though they tend not to on average since most players aren’t that good with air. They are rarely worth the spawn points the players spend on them just to feel the satisfaction of revenge.

The exceptions being aircraft I feel gaijin refuses to admit are not balanced, such as the Yak9k, which you can see is not balanced.

Fixed it for ya.

You are ignoring the fact that there are large gaps in some nations with respect to available spaa.

Additionally, on lower tiers with no tracking and missiles, spaa are at a disadvantage. especially so when there are multiple CAS in the sky. In many cases trying to spawn an spaa is just suicide - especially on the smaller maps or on maps where enemy can quickly get into camping position on the spawn area.

Plus you say “if a team refuses”…
Well that’s somewhat disingenuous. The “team” does not make that decision. The players do individually.
I’m asking because I am not sure - do players get the same rewards for shooting down CAS as they get for destroying a ground vehicle?

There is a huge difference as when using an air unit, when enemy player is in a tank he can’t do anything to You while You destroy him.

When You are in other ground unit, he still has a chance against You.

Sometimes killing even one player can turn the tide of the battle. I had many games where I was alone as my team have died protecting the position and lost because someone suicide bombed me in order to get rid of me.
