If teams stop receiving rewards for losing, I think this would fix a lot of War Thunder's issues. Hear me out

except rewards are not a flat payout per game, you could have a good match but still lose and lose all those rewards then have a bad match but win so you still get few rewards

There’s no balance to that. What if I get an absolutely insane game and lose only to be absolutely clotheslined in the next and get nothing in a win???

Air SIM especially. Whilst the PvP is fairly balanced at most BRs, bluefor has the PvE advantage and can often win just from that alone.

…you are way too late with your criticism and you miss some important facts.

  1. Whilst a fully support (in general) the idea that there should be no SL or RP bonus on top of your individual SL/RP results in case of a loss and just the winning team should get a such things, the idea would require that you would have an actual impact on the outcome - from my pov this would also require a SBMM. In the current state of the game nobody wants to follow this path.

I strongly recommend to check the old war thunder forum regarding this topic - as none of your points is new, all of them were discussed extensively.

  2. I also agree that in theory winning or losing should have more impact on earnings, but your overall proposal is based on the assumption that everybody would have the same perspective like you.

  3. I mean you consider wt as a war game, but it is actually just a plain (vehicle based) shooter, optimized to be attractive for kids with access to credit cards and designed to generate income and not to be an actually demanding war game.

  4. No matter what mode you play, gaijin is doing everything they can to simplify game play to lower the entry barriers for new players. That’s why you have CQC maps in Ground RB or 16 vs 16 lobbies in Air RB as this increases the chances for rookies to score as all they have to do is to find an enemy with even less experience.

  5. WT looks like a team based game with objectives - but actually it bundles just random strangers with individual goals in random “teams” fighting other “teams” and the sole purpose of game objectives is to enforce player interactions and to create the illusion that this is not a plain shooter.

  6. My WR dropped significantly in the last weeks as i played mainly Germany in 6.0 - 6.7 jets and the 410 at BR 3.3 - but it is still at 69%. From my pov i was able to influence the outcome in 5-8 % of my matches at best - the rest was decided by the MM - epic steamrolls in both directions, but mainly in my favor.

  7. As long as the majority of players is trapped in the hamster wheel called grind and most of your team mates are on a journey to somewhere else any proposals like yours are neither acceptable for players, nor for gaijin.

  8. Players will claim that gaijin has (fully intended) reduced the result of matches to random events and gaijin won’t risk to make the game more demanding (as winning requires skill) in order to stay attractive for their main target group: Kids willing to pay for shiny stuf.

Have a good one!

What are you talking about? Reread OP,

My word, and intelligent and well thought out response with extremely good points. How refreshing. I appreciate you taking the effort.

First and foremost, yeah I probably am being a stickler here. I was in the military for 10 years. I served in combat far more than I wish I did. So I have some personal… “Feelings” when it comes to really any combat based gameplay.

Your post really kind of crystallized one of my biggest grievances about the game in my mind. It’s a shooter that masquerades as a team-based gameplay. I hate how there’s no communication or teamwork.

I mean I know snail kind of has fine-tuned this to be the most profitable that it can be. And not only just profitable, addicting. There are so many little tweets and fine tunes in this game to maximize that dopamine Rush every time you get a kill.

I know that my proposal would never happen in a million years because gaijin would have to basically throw their entire history of researching and fine-tuning this thing to be as addicting as possible out the window.

But that doesn’t change that the current state of gameplay is exceedingly frustrating to someone like me. Screwing over your teammates, pixel peeking camping or anything. But there’s not really any better alternatives out here so you either have to just suck it up and swallow, or quit playing.

I’m one of the guys that doesn’t buy premiums. I don’t shell out money for this game all the time. I bought like two things while they were on sale primarily for the GE for more crew slots. So I don’t do the constant premium thing. So I guess I’m one of the cannon fodder that feeds into the other end of the snail.

This would be a bad idea as it punishes good players on bad teams.

keep in mind the stats of the person advocating for this change is terrific so effectively he will suffer from this “improvement” the most

hun, respectfully, what is wrong with you, why would you want basically half of your matches (going based of your own W/L ratio) to net you no rewards? like I’m sorry but that is completely asinine and frankly would probably kill the game completely

yeah like I don’t get why he’d want to handicap himself so much lol

This is why I don’t believe in the dead internet theory, there’s no way an AI could have cooked up something this anti-consumer

A lot of guys here have served - the key to stay attached for a longer period was always to find a niche in the game which allows fun & a challenge at the same time - whilst making the lowest amount of compromises.

I agree regarding missing alternatives - but if you find your niche and arrange with some things the game is quite entertaining.

Criticism is not connected to investments. The problem i see is that if even if you are willing and able to pay: The game can’t satisfy players with higher demands.

From my perspective: I would pay up to 300-350 € for a bug free game with some rather small adjustments (like semi-historical MM, BR settings on performance of the aircraft, no hidden buffs or nerfs, etc.) but in the current state of the game you get no quality for your money.

Same here, have a good one!

I’m sure doubling the grind in a game where the grind is already obscenely long and sufferable is a good way to retain players.

To implement this laughable suggestion in any regard, they would also have to bring in skill based matchmaking, as people won’t want to be put in teams where they are teamed up with less skilled players that they perceive to be costing them wins and rewards. That alone would make this game a sweaty try hard fest, and less enjoyable, never even mind the rewards not being given for losing.

In short, your idea is an exceptionally bad one.

If you care about the objective so much to the point where you want to kneecap 50% of people in a match without fail every time then go drive on it
Vantablack coal suggestion, someone get him out of the kitchen
If this idea was implemented, I’d honestly just leave the match every time it looked like my team was losing

this would only make sense if you get 10x the rewards for winning as it would just make the grind 2 times harder for no reason and punish players who do good but get a shit team.

instead of focusing this much on winning, focus more on having good matches.
Even with a bad team, that is losing the match you can get good results. People like you care so much about winning but dont seem to realize that a lost match can still net roughly 80% of the reward.

With your your system people would just leave the game instantly as theres no point to play for no reward at the end.

We’re barely 3 weeks into 2025 and this is the worst take of the year. Period.

All this would accomplish is killing the game completely tbh, and making an already long grind even longer

by your own idea you’d get nothing for 60-70% of your games
what on earth would be the incentive to keep going in this instance? It’s just going to make the losing side likely lose more decisively because nobody is going to stick around for literally nothing in return
