Hello! I would like to suggest the introduction of Romanian variant of Polish PZL P.24E aircraft license-built by IAR (Industria Aeronautică Română).

History:

P.24 was an aircraft developed by Polish engineer Zygmunt Puławski for PZL. It was meant to be used as an export variant of PZL P.11 fitted with a different engine as the original Bristol Mercury license didn’t allow to use it for export purposes, P.24 had French Gnome-Rhône engines.
Romania was one of the countries which used PZL P.24. In 1937 Romanian Air Force ordered first 5 P.24 from PZL, then IAR Braşov acquired license and built another 25. The adoption was rather easy since Romania had already produced another similar PZL aircraft under license P.11f.
Romania had P.24E modification in service, locally designated as P.24P. First six P.24 built by IAR had IAR K14 II C32 engine, while other got more powerful the IAR K14 III C36.
One of the key features of IAR P.24E plane, compared to other modifications was a two-blade wooden propeller.
Romanian P.24s were used to defend the capital city of Bucharest and the Ploieşti oilfields from Soviet bombers after the start of Operation Barbarossa (some sources claim up to 37 victories).
Although they managed to shoot down unescorted bombers, the aircraft was too slow to catch most of faster Soviet bombers and quite outdated even compared to Soviet I-16. That’s why P.24s, same as P.11s, were later reassigned to ground attack missions and eventually moved to advanced training routine.
Last Romanian P.24s were put out of service in 1945.
It should be noted that PZL P.24E played an important role in the development of fully Romanian monoplane fighter IAR-80.
