I think the grind is fine

Lots of people complain about the grind in the game; while I think there are areas that could improve, e.g. stock module grinding regarding vital modules, as better ammo (if possible), helicopters and coastal, I think it is mostly fine.

I am not an skilled player. But that just makes my point stronger. If someone like me could find the grind bearable, then it should not be a concern for those of you who get a nuke every 5 rounds.

To repeat WT community’s favorite phrase.

One needs to consider the fact that this is a free game, free for everyone.

Let’s talk about module grind.

Starting with tanks, most tanks are fairly competitive when stock with HEAT-FS shells, although that can become less bearable in ERA/composite armor tiers. 7/10

Regarding planes, there are some planes that have worse stock grind than others, such as Mirage F1C with Magic 1 only. I think bombs should be free though; it does seem like that Gaijin is taking the lessons that the Su-30SM and F-18 (both relatively new planes) offers bombs as stock option. 8/10

About naval, well it is complicated. The naval grind is bearable for bluewater, but it is problematic for coastal. The only problem I see for bluewater is the HE shells in top tier battleships and the fact that coastal balancing is rather poor. 7/10 for bluewater, 4/10 for coastal

Finally helicopters…The module grind can be problematic, forcing you to do rocket rushes or play the PVE mode; I am more of a jet guy. 3/10

Finally, except for coastal, all grinding for vehicles (excluding modules) is fairly reasonable.

I was getting worried for a second this wouldn’t be mentioned

Air simulator battles have a horrible economy.

It’s somewhat livable at WW2 prop tiers (1-3), but late-war/post-war props start showing issues (Rank 4) and rank V is entirely and utterly unplayable (please refer to FeetPics’ interactions in Sim battles thread here for concrete live examples so it’s not just “my skill issues”: Air Simulator Battles - General Discussion / Support HUB - #644 by LostF0X)

Basically.

Let’s say you want to fly the Ho 229 Horten. It is 7.7 in ASB EC.

To spawn the Horten, you must pay UP FRONT, No take backsies, no refund, SEVENTEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SL. That’s 17 300. 17.3k.

In Sim, you do not gain rewards for individual actions. You get zero SL for bombing, for killing other players, for destroying bots (ground or airborne). Instead, you get score.

Score caps out at 1050 - above 1050, score does not increase income. Conrete example with a zero):

Notice how despite gaining 1050, 1950, 2653 points in a single cycle… my reward remains effectively the same.

In sim, your score is compared against time alive, capping out at 15 minutes. Whether you die or survive for 15 minutes, your score is then translated into a fixed income:

200 points = 54% reward
400 points = 75% reward
600 points = 86% reward
800 points = 90% reward
1050+ points = 92% reward

For the Ho 229, looking at its stat-card in game, one finds that it can earn up to a maximum of 19.8K SL if you obtain the full 1050 score required. This 19.8K is calculated assuming you land.

Because if you don’t land, your income is stat card x 0.92 x 0.8. In our case, 15.8K.

You read that right.

You spawn the Ho 229. You kill 3 people (450 + 450 + 450 = 1350 min, 600+600+600 = 1800 max) and get maximum reward potential. You survive the full 15 minutes.

Then you die.

You have survived 15 minutes, killed 3 enemies. Have a 3.00 K/D.

You’ve lost 17.3-15.4 = 1.9K silver lions.

YOU ARE IN A NEGATIVE TWO THOUSAND SILVER LIONS WITH A 3.00 K/D IN the HO 229.

Now you respawn.

You’re in a debt of 17.3+1.9= 19.2K silver lions.

If in this scenario you do manage to land… you’ve earned 600 silver lions. Congratulations.

Want proof?

Open air sim EC browser, compare BRs 3.0-5.7 and 9.3-TOP versus the 7.0-9.0 BR ranges.

7.0-9.0 is “PvE?” zomber territory. If you do get PvP, it immediately leads to the other party quitting because of spawn costs. The mode is impossible to learn at this range because of costs.

Also refer to the linked thread and Feetpics’s own posts.

Air sim economy/grind needs a SERIOUS FIX last week.

The grind is alright, the rewards of anything that costs actual real life money are abysmal tho

Maybe this is correct; However, I don’t play Air Sim and it’s pretty specialized. Good on you for putting it out there though.

Rewards as in SL or RP? or as in premium bonus in general?

Both kinda. All premium bonuses (vehicles and general prem bonus) are too low in my opinion. And the other things that can be bought have terrible returns as well. Crew training and god forbid aceing is too expensive and dont even get me started on convertible RP

For unlocking vehicles I think the issue is un-fun game play… mostly due to up-tiers, but also player preference. If you have zero interest in WW2 tanks grinding to cold war era would be brutal (planes are a bit different as you only need one for a full ARB line up).
I ground out the F-104J, F-4EJ and the F-4EJ KAI without even realizing it using the F-1… because the F-1 was damn fun to play.
If you find something fun to play the grind just happens… BUT>>>
Then there is the stock grind… that is an entirely different beast, because there is no fun to be had as stock.

About 100 battle hours with a premium account.
Most multiplayer games take more hours than that to get to end game content.

Your post however, is tone deaf.

Runa’s correct here.
They even spotted me in a sim match, and 74,000 base damage gave me 349 score, and barely any rewards.
Note that 24,000 base damage would normally give 550 not even a year ago, and give a noticeable amount of rewards.

after i saw your kd and i said this post is ragebait

grinding with a horrible vehicle is probably the worst experience in all of gaming, but to be fair, its the best way for the game to be monetized apart from cosmetics.

but even with that, they managed to ruin this (already bad enough) experience by forcing CAS into ground matches, which means you have to spend time (or ideally money) grinding not only SPAA, but also CAS to get an advantage over ground players

i did that aswell, really hazed me lol

gear
I’m shocked that I still keep getting blown away by the intelligence shown by OP.

Sadly Sim passed through constant nerfs during the last decade. It used to be an rp booster in Ec, and it was removed. We used to pay half of the repair cost as a spawn and they removed that too. When skill bonus was added we had it in EC too, but it didn’t last and it’s been… ofc REMOVED!!! They added years ago the reward for landing, totally nonsense. It was introduced after the sim community complained about players committing suicide runs with bombers, so half of the reward unless you successfully land your plane. But zombers didn’t care and they kept doing their way, so the damage was only for figher pilots

Playing top tiers in RB is way MORE rewarding. Why wasting hours in EC just to lose SL and earn very few rp? I’m playing other games for sim and wt only for rb
