Oh yes, most are. You are constantly matched against 9.0 tanks with better shells, LRFs, full stabilisers and more. 8.0 is not exactly the best of experiences for anyone, except maybe China players since you get 2 different T54s with a stab and the best manual SPAA in the game.
Leopard 1 has crazy gunner sight at 15.9x zoom so if the maps allows it then you can find a position to hull down and you will outsnipe a lot of enemies.
But I’d say don’t bother playing things without stabilizer in this br because of the nature of matchmaking you are getting more uptiers than downtiers so it will be facing mostly fukly stabilized vehicles, which renders it having no advantage whatsoever. You gonna have a lot of pains playing any 8.0s as long as they lacks the stabilizer, get the turm 3 if you want to progress down the tech tree, the next best thing imo is the leopard a1a1 and TAM and at 9.3 Germany has a very strong line up.
You have to play it like a light tank and just flank. Some maps are not good for that and youll just have awful time.
there isnt one, you can maybe try to go for the IL28 and suffer through to get the 3000kg bomb but even then that is extremely mediocre. Youre far better to just ignore CAS until you get to Alphajet.
there isnt any good way to grind RP at 8.0 specifically. Best way is buying higher BR premium plane and using that. At 8.0 germany doesnt have any premiums nor really good grinders.
As for ground, Id suggest getting the pzh2000 thats at 7.7 and playing that. Afterwards you get the Raketenautomat which is pretty funny at 8.0.

What about the Bf-109 F-4 in 4.0? I don’t go to 4.7 with the Bf-109 G-6 because the players get better, the plane is less maneuverable, and people praised the Bf-109 F-4 as the best German fighter at it’s rank. I used the Bf-109 F-4 for grinding research points now. i can get around 1000-2000 points but only 700 goes to the Me-262 A-1a. This is after I get 1-2 kills. Some rounds I get 1 kill then get shot down.
when you look at a vehicle, on the bottom of the statcard it says “max vehicle research efficiency”.

As you can see on the Bf109 F4 the research is only effective for researching vehicles one tier below, on tier and one tier above.
Once you research outside of that zone youll get hit with a negative RP modifier.
So you cant research higher tier vehicles without losing a massive amount of RP this way. The only vehicles that work outside of this are premium vehicles as they have an effective range from Tier 1 to Tier n+1 (n = their own tier)

One of the things youll simply just notice is that this game is F2P in name only. As if you want any meaningful progress for your time you are heavily incentivized to give gaijin money. It does in fact not respect your time.

The puma is annoyingly tanky but you get disabled after roughly one shot then sit there slowly dying
I have 1000h+ in this game and Germany 7.7 - 8.0 has been the worst experience I’ve ever had.
It’s not just about you, it’s not just about the vehicles - it’s mainly about the German teams.
Many new players choose Germany as their first nation, and switch from somehow-armored tanks to paper-thin-nothing-special lineup is just brutal for many.
My advice: try to get through this as quickly as possible and explore 9.3 which is really great.
I found DF105 enjoyable. First German heli is also good, there are good youtube videos how to set controls and you should have some fun with this. Ignore the win rates :)
I think you should have started by grinding the 7.7br m48a2c to get use to the faster pace of mid tier, because you can’t get uptiered as high as you can when playing the leopard1. Genuinely, the difference between playing at 7.7 br compared to 8.0br has an actual impact.
Also, why the hate for the leopard 1? Its geniunely one of the best. It LITERALLY has the mobility of a light tank paired with a resistance against machinegun and autocannon fire.
